Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the operation and maintenance of your BAOFENG UV-5R Mini two-way radio. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device to ensure proper function and safety. The UV-5R Mini is a compact, long-range ham radio featuring 999 channels, dual PTT, NOAA weather reception, and convenient USB-C charging.

- Antenna: For transmitting and receiving signals.
- Volume/Power Knob: Turns the radio on/off and adjusts volume.

- Microphone: For voice input during transmission.
- V/M Button: Switches between Frequency (VFO) mode and Channel (Memory) mode.

Setup
1. Battery Installation
Align the battery pack with the grooves on the back of the radio and slide it upwards until it clicks into place. To remove, press the release latch and slide the battery downwards.
2. Antenna Attachment
Screw the desired antenna (9CM or 38CM 771 antenna) clockwise onto the antenna connector at the top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

3. Charging the Battery
Connect the provided USB-C charging cable to the Type-C port on the back of the battery (or radio if battery is attached) and plug the other end into a compatible USB power source (e.g., wall adapter, power bank, car charger, laptop). The charging indicator light will show red during charging and turn green when fully charged.

Operating Instructions
1. Power On/Off and Volume Adjustment
To power on the radio, rotate the Volume/Power knob clockwise. To power off, rotate it counter-clockwise until it clicks. Adjust the volume by rotating the knob while the radio is on.
2. Mode Selection (VFO/MR)
Press the V/M button to switch between Frequency (VFO) mode and Channel (Memory) mode. In VFO mode, you can manually input frequencies. In MR mode, you can select pre-programmed channels.
3. APP Programming (OLA Radio)
The BAOFENG UV-5R Mini supports programming via a mobile application called "OLA Radio".
- Download the "OLA Radio" app from your mobile device's app store.
- Ensure your radio is powered on and Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device.
- Open the OLA Radio app and follow the on-screen instructions to pair with your UV-5R Mini radio.
- Once connected, you can input and adjust frequencies, channel settings, and other parameters directly from your phone.

4. Copy Frequency Function
The UV-5R Mini allows for quick frequency copying from another radio without computer programming.
- Turn on the radio.
- Long press the Search/Flashlight button (often labeled with a magnifying glass icon) on the keyboard. The screen will display "SEARCH".
- When the frequency appears on the screen, press the MENU button to save the channel.

5. NOAA Weather Radio
The radio can receive NOAA weather forecasts and emergency alerts. Refer to the radio's menu for specific NOAA channel selection and alert settings. This feature helps ensure your safety by providing timely weather information.

6. Dual PTT (Push-To-Talk)
The UV-5R Mini features dual PTT buttons (PTT-A and PTT-B) on the side. These allow you to transmit on either the upper (A) or lower (B) displayed frequency/channel directly, enhancing communication efficiency for dual watch/dual transmit operations.

7. VOX Function
VOX (Voice Operated Exchange) allows for hands-free transmission. When enabled, the radio will automatically transmit when it detects your voice, eliminating the need to press the PTT button. Adjust VOX sensitivity in the radio's menu.
8. FM/AM Radio Reception
The UV-5R Mini can receive standard FM and AM radio broadcasts. Access this feature through the radio's menu or dedicated function key, if available.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
Wipe the radio's surface with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Ensure the charging port and accessory port are free of dust and debris.
2. Battery Care
To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the battery regularly, even if the radio is not in active use. Store the radio and battery in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
Troubleshooting
