4. Setup Guide
4.1 Hardware Connection
- Power Connection: Connect the provided power adapter to the router's power input port and then plug it into a power outlet. The power LED indicator should light up.
- WAN Connection: Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the WAN port (often labeled 'WAN' or a globe icon) on your COMFAST router and the other end to your modem's Ethernet port.
- LAN Connection (Optional): For wired devices such as desktop computers, smart TVs, or gaming consoles, connect an Ethernet cable from one of the router's LAN ports (labeled 'LAN1', 'LAN2', etc.) to the Ethernet port on your device.
- Antenna Adjustment: Adjust the four external antennas for optimal signal coverage. Generally, positioning them vertically upwards is recommended.
4.2 Initial Configuration
- Connect to Router: Connect your computer or mobile device to the router's default Wi-Fi network. The default Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password are usually printed on a label on the bottom of the router. Alternatively, you can connect your computer directly to a LAN port using an Ethernet cable.
- Access Web Interface: Open a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Edge) and enter the router's default IP address in the address bar. This is commonly
192.168.1.1or192.168.0.1. Refer to the label on your router for the exact IP address. - Login: Enter the default username and password. These are also typically found on the router's label (e.g., username:
admin, password:admin). - Follow Setup Wizard: Upon successful login, you will likely be guided through a Quick Setup Wizard. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure your internet connection type (e.g., PPPoE, Dynamic IP, Static IP) and set up your new Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password. It is highly recommended to change the default administrator password for security reasons.
- Save Settings: After completing the configuration, save your settings. The router may restart to apply the changes.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Connecting Devices to Wi-Fi
Once your router is set up, you can connect your wireless devices:
- On your device (smartphone, tablet, laptop, smart TV), go to the Wi-Fi settings.
- Select your newly configured Wi-Fi network name (SSID) from the list of available networks.
- Enter the Wi-Fi password you set during the initial configuration.
- Your device should now be connected to the internet.
5.2 EasyMesh Configuration
The COMFAST AX3000 router supports EasyMesh, allowing you to create a seamless whole-home Wi-Fi network by adding compatible EasyMesh devices. This eliminates Wi-Fi dead zones and provides a single network name for all your devices as you move around your home.

Figure 5.1: EasyMesh network setup. This diagram demonstrates how multiple COMFAST AX3000 routers can form an EasyMesh network, providing seamless Wi-Fi coverage throughout a multi-story home.
To set up an EasyMesh network:
- Ensure your primary COMFAST AX3000 router is configured and working.
- Place additional EasyMesh compatible COMFAST routers (nodes) in areas where you need extended coverage.
- Press the 'Mesh' button on the primary router and then on the additional node(s) within a short timeframe (refer to the specific timing in the router's web interface or quick start guide).
- The devices will automatically connect and form a unified mesh network. You can monitor the status via the router's web interface.
5.3 Security Settings (WPA3)
Your COMFAST AX3000 router supports WPA3, the latest Wi-Fi security protocol, offering enhanced protection for your network. It is crucial to maintain strong security for your wireless network.

Figure 5.2: Advanced Security Features. This image highlights the advanced security features of the router, such as WPA3-SAE for secure Wi-Fi, prevention of brute-force attacks, anti-phishing protection, and navigation piracy prevention.
To manage security settings:
- Access the router's web interface (as described in Section 4.2).
- Navigate to the 'Wireless Settings' or 'Security' section.
- Ensure that WPA3-SAE is selected as the security protocol for your Wi-Fi network. If WPA3 is not available for older devices, WPA2/WPA3-Personal (mixed mode) can be used.
- Regularly change your Wi-Fi password to a strong, unique combination of letters, numbers, and symbols.
- Consider enabling a Guest Network for visitors to keep your main network secure.
6. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your router:
- Firmware Updates: Regularly check the COMFAST official website for firmware updates. Updating the firmware can improve performance, add new features, and enhance security. Follow the instructions provided with the firmware update carefully.
- Placement: Place the router in a central location, away from obstructions (thick walls, metal objects) and sources of interference (microwaves, cordless phones). Elevating the router can also improve signal distribution.
- Cleaning: Keep the router clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
- Ventilation: Ensure the router has adequate ventilation to prevent overheating. Do not cover the ventilation holes.
- Restart: Periodically restarting your router (unplugging it for 10-15 seconds and plugging it back in) can help resolve minor network issues and improve performance.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your COMFAST AX3000 router, try the following solutions:
- No Internet Access:
- Check if the WAN port LED on the router is lit. If not, ensure the Ethernet cable from the modem is securely connected.
- Restart your modem and router.
- Verify your internet connection type and settings in the router's web interface.
- Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to confirm service status.
- Slow Wi-Fi Speed:
- Ensure your devices are connected to the 5GHz band for higher speeds, if supported.
- Move closer to the router or consider using EasyMesh nodes for better coverage.
- Check for interference from other electronic devices.
- Limit the number of devices simultaneously streaming or downloading large files.
- Cannot Connect to Wi-Fi:
- Verify that the Wi-Fi password entered is correct.
- Ensure the Wi-Fi function is enabled on the router (check the web interface).
- Restart the router and your device.
- If you recently changed the SSID or password, update it on your devices.
- Forgot Router Login Password:
- You will need to perform a factory reset. Locate the 'Reset' button on the back of the router (see Figure 3.2). With the router powered on, use a paperclip to press and hold the Reset button for about 10 seconds until the lights flash. The router will revert to factory default settings, including the default login credentials and Wi-Fi settings.
