Setup Instructions

The AOOEPU WD-R1206U WiFi Extender offers a simple setup process. You can configure it using the WPS button or through a web browser on your mobile device or computer.

Method 1: WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)

1. Power On: Plug the WiFi Extender into an electrical outlet near your main router. Wait for the power LED to light up.
2. Activate WPS on Router: Press the WPS button on your main Wi-Fi router. Refer to your router's manual for the exact location and timing.
3. Activate WPS on Extender: Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button (usually labeled "WPS" or with a WPS icon) on the AOOEPU WD-R1206U WiFi Extender for 2 seconds.
4. Wait for Connection: The Wi-Fi signal LEDs on the extender will blink and then turn solid, indicating a successful connection.
5. Relocate (Optional): Once connected, you can unplug the extender and move it to a location between your router and the Wi-Fi dead zone. Ensure the signal LEDs remain solid to confirm good signal reception from the main router.

Method 2: Web Browser Setup

1. Power On: Plug the WiFi Extender into an electrical outlet near your main router. Wait for the power LED to light up.
2. Connect to Extender's Wi-Fi: On your computer or mobile device, connect to the extender's default Wi-Fi network (e.g., "WiFi-Repeater" or similar, check the device label). No password is required initially.
3. Access Setup Page: Open a web browser and enter the default IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.254) or domain name (e.g., wdlogin.com) provided in the user guide.
4. Log In: Enter the default username and password (usually "admin" for both, check the device label or user guide).
5. Select Mode: Choose "Repeater Mode" to extend your existing Wi-Fi network.
6. Scan for Networks: The extender will scan for available Wi-Fi networks. Select your main router's network (SSID).
7. Enter Password: Enter the Wi-Fi password for your main router's network. You can also set a new SSID and password for the extended network if desired.
8. Apply Settings: Confirm the settings and wait for the extender to restart and apply the configuration. The Wi-Fi signal LEDs will turn solid upon successful connection.

Operating Modes

The AOOEPU WD-R1206U WiFi Extender supports three primary operating modes:

• Repeater Mode (Default): Extends the coverage of an existing wireless network. This is ideal for eliminating Wi-Fi dead zones.
• AP Mode (Access Point): Converts a wired network connection into a wireless one. Useful for adding Wi-Fi capability to a wired-only router or network switch.
• Router Mode: Functions as a primary router, creating a new private wireless network from a modem connection.

Operating Instructions

After successful setup, your AOOEPU WD-R1206U WiFi Extender will broadcast an extended Wi-Fi signal.

• Connecting Devices: Search for the extended Wi-Fi network (its SSID will be similar to your main network, possibly with "_EXT" or "_PRO" appended) on your devices and connect using the password you set during setup.
• Ethernet Ports: Use the two Gigabit Ethernet ports on the extender to connect wired devices (e.g., smart TVs, gaming consoles, PCs) for a more stable and faster connection.
• Optimal Placement: For best performance, place the extender halfway between your main router and the area where you need improved Wi-Fi coverage. Ensure the signal LEDs indicate a strong connection to your main router.

Maintenance

• Keep Clean: Regularly wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners or aerosols.
• Ventilation: Ensure the device is placed in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight or heat sources, to prevent overheating.
• Firmware Updates: Check the manufacturer's website periodically for firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.
• Reset: If the device experiences persistent issues, you can perform a factory reset by pressing and holding the Reset button for 8 seconds. Note that this will erase all custom settings.

Troubleshooting

• No Power: Ensure the extender is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet.
• No Internet Access:
  • Verify your main router has internet access.
  • Check the connection between the extender and the main router (signal LEDs should be solid).
  • Try relocating the extender closer to the main router.
• Slow Speed:

  • Consider connecting high-bandwidth devices directly to the extender via Ethernet cable.
• Cannot Access Setup Page:
  • Ensure your device is connected to the extender's Wi-Fi network.
