1. Setup and Initial Use

1.1 Unboxing Contents

Verify that all items are present in the package:

  • GravaStar Mercury K1 Lite Keyboard
  • Type-A 2.4GHz Receiver
  • Type-A to Type-C Cable

  • 1 x Cleaning Brush

1.2 Connecting Your Keyboard

The GravaStar Mercury K1 Lite offers three connectivity modes: 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.0, and USB-C wired.

1.2.1 2.4GHz Wireless Connection

  1. Locate the Type-A 2.4GHz receiver. This is typically stored in the hidden magnetic compartment on the underside of the keyboard.
  2. Insert the 2.4GHz receiver into an available USB-A port on your computer.
  3. Switch the keyboard's mode selector to 2.4GHz wireless. The keyboard will automatically connect.

1.2.2 Bluetooth 5.0 Connection

  1. Switch the keyboard's mode selector to Bluetooth.
  2. On your device (PC, laptop, tablet, gaming console), open Bluetooth settings and search for new devices.
  3. Select "GravaStar K1 Lite" from the list of available devices to pair.
  4. The keyboard can pair with up to three devices simultaneously. Use the designated function keys (e.g., Fn + 1/2/3) to switch between paired devices. Refer to the keyboard's specific key combinations for detailed instructions.

1.2.3 USB-C Wired Connection

  1. Connect one end of the provided Type-A to Type-C cable to the USB-C port on the keyboard.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to an available USB-A port on your computer.
  3. The keyboard will automatically switch to wired mode and begin charging.

1.3 Adjusting Keyboard Height

The keyboard features two-stage adjustable feet on the underside, allowing you to set your preferred typing angle for ergonomic comfort. Simply flip out the feet to the desired height.

2. Operating Your Keyboard

2.1 Power Management and Charging

The GravaStar Mercury K1 Lite is equipped with a built-in 4000mAh battery, providing extended usage. To charge, connect the keyboard via the USB-C cable to a power source. The keyboard can be used while charging.

2.2 RGB Backlight Control

The keyboard features customizable RGB backlighting. Use specific key combinations (typically Fn + arrow keys or other designated keys) to cycle through various lighting modes, adjust brightness, and change colors. Refer to the full manual for specific key combinations for backlight control.

2.3 Hot-Swappable Switches

The Mercury K1 Lite supports hot-swappable 3-pin/5-pin mechanical switches, allowing for customization of typing feel and sound without soldering. The keyboard comes with GravaStar x BSUN custom linear switches, designed for light and effortless keypresses.

3. Maintenance

3.1 Cleaning Your Keyboard

Regular cleaning helps maintain the keyboard's performance and appearance. Use the provided cleaning brush to remove dust and debris from between the keycaps. For deeper cleaning, keycaps can be removed using the keycap puller.

3.2 Replacing Switches

To replace a switch:

  1. Carefully remove the keycap using the provided keycap puller.
  2. Use a switch puller (not included, but often comes with replacement switches) to gently remove the switch from the PCB.
  3. Align the pins of the new switch with the holes on the PCB and press firmly until it clicks into place.
  4. Reattach the keycap.

The package includes 4 extra switches for testing or replacement: 1 x Kailh Platycodon Switch, 1 x Kailh Crackle Ice Box Switch, 1 x KTT Silent Blue Switch, 1 x KTT Baby White Switch.

4. Troubleshooting

4.1 Connectivity Issues

  • 2.4GHz Wireless: Ensure the receiver is securely plugged into a USB port and the keyboard is set to 2.4GHz mode. Try a different USB port.
  • Bluetooth: Confirm Bluetooth is enabled on your device and the keyboard is in pairing mode. Remove previous pairings and attempt to re-pair if issues persist. Ensure the keyboard is set to Bluetooth mode.
  • Wired: Check the USB-C cable connection at both ends. Try a different USB-C cable or USB port.

4.2 Backlight Not Functioning

  • Ensure the keyboard is powered on and charged.
  • Check if the backlight is turned off or set to minimum brightness using the keyboard's function key combinations.

4.3 Keys Not Responding

  • If individual keys are not responding, try reseating the keycap and switch. If the issue persists, consider replacing the switch with one of the provided extra switches.
  • For multiple non-responsive keys, check the connectivity mode and battery level.
