2. Safety Information
Always read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before operating the generator. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death.
- Carbon Monoxide Hazard: Generators produce carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless, poisonous gas. Operate the generator outdoors in a well-ventilated area, far away from windows, doors, and vents. Never operate indoors, in a garage, or in any enclosed space.
- Fire Hazard: Gasoline is highly flammable. Refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine off and cool. Do not smoke or allow flames or sparks near the generator or fuel tank.
- Electrical Shock Hazard: Do not operate the generator in wet conditions. Ensure all connections are secure and properly grounded.
- Hot Surfaces: The generator's engine and muffler become very hot during operation and remain hot for some time after shutdown. Avoid touching hot surfaces.
- CO Protect: This generator is equipped with CO Protect technology, which automatically shuts down the engine if hazardous levels of carbon monoxide are detected. Do not disable or bypass this safety feature.
3. Setup and Initial Preparation
Before first use, ensure the generator is placed on a level surface and follow these steps:
- Add Engine Oil:
- Locate the oil fill cap/dipstick on the side of the engine.
- Remove the oil fill cap/dipstick.
- Using the included oil funnel, carefully pour the provided 5W-30 engine oil into the oil fill opening. Fill until the oil level reaches the upper mark on the dipstick when inserted without screwing it in.
- Replace the oil fill cap/dipstick securely.
Note: The generator is shipped without engine oil. Operating without sufficient oil will cause severe engine damage.
- Add Fuel:
- Ensure the generator is off and cool.
- Unscrew the fuel cap.
- Carefully pour fresh, unleaded gasoline (minimum 87 octane) into the fuel tank. Do not overfill. Leave space for fuel expansion.
- Securely replace the fuel cap.
- Included Accessories: The generator comes with an oil funnel, a screwdriver, and this user manual.

4. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to operate your generator safely and effectively:
- Starting the Generator:
- Ensure the fuel valve is in the 'ON' position.
- Move the choke lever to the 'CHOKE' position (for cold starts).
- Turn the engine switch to the 'ON' position.
- Firmly pull the recoil starter handle until the engine starts.
- Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke lever to the 'RUN' position.
- Using Eco Mode:
- The Eco Mode switch allows the engine speed to automatically adjust to the connected load, improving fuel efficiency and reducing noise.
- Flip the Eco Mode switch to 'ON' for quieter operation and fuel savings when running lighter loads.
- Turn Eco Mode 'OFF' when connecting high-power appliances or when stable power is required.
- Connecting Devices:
- Plug your 120V AC appliances into the 120V 15A receptacles.
- Use the 12V DC outlet for charging compatible DC devices.
- Utilize the 5V USB ports for charging small electronic devices.
- Parallel Operation: This generator is parallel capable, allowing you to connect two identical PowerSmart inverter generators for increased power output. Refer to the parallel kit instructions for detailed setup.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your generator.
- Check Oil Level: Before each use, check the engine oil level and add oil if necessary.
- Air Cleaner Maintenance: Clean the air filter element every 50 hours of use, or more frequently in dusty environments. Wash with soap and water, rinse, and allow to dry completely before re-oiling lightly.
- Spark Plug: Inspect the spark plug periodically. Clean or replace if fouled or damaged.
- Fuel Filter: Inspect and clean the fuel filter as needed.
6. Troubleshooting
If your generator experiences issues, refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:
- Engine Not Starting:
- Check fuel level and ensure fresh gasoline is used.
- Verify engine oil level.
- Ensure the engine switch is 'ON' and the choke is set correctly for starting.
- Check the spark plug for fouling or damage.
- No Power Output:
- Check if the circuit breakers have tripped. Reset if necessary.
- Ensure the Eco Mode is not causing insufficient power for the connected load.
- Engine Shuts Down Unexpectedly:
- Low Oil Shutdown: Check engine oil level and refill if low.
- Overload Reset: If an overload occurs, the generator may shut down. Reduce the load and press the Overload Reset button.
- Carbon Monoxide Auto Shutdown: If the CO Protect system detects high CO levels, the engine will shut down. Move the generator to a well-ventilated outdoor area.
