Introduction and Overview
The KZYEE KT80 Digital Timing Light is an advanced diagnostic tool designed for precise engine timing and performance analysis. It features a long-life LED strobe, USB-C rechargeable internal battery, and compatibility with both 6V and 12V gasoline engines (2-stroke and 4-stroke). Beyond basic timing, the KT80 offers integrated functions for RPM measurement, advance angle adjustment, dwell angle testing, and voltage checks, providing comprehensive engine diagnostics. Its 60-degree adjustable head and clear LCD display ensure ease of use and accurate readings in various engine bay conditions.

Setup
- Charging the Device: Before first use, fully charge the KT80 via its USB-C port. The device has a built-in lithium battery for wireless operation.
- Power Options:
- For wireless use, ensure the internal battery is charged.
- For extended use or if the internal battery is depleted, connect the included clamps to a 12V car battery.
Note: The backup clamps must only be connected to a 12V battery.
- Connecting to the Engine:
- Ensure the engine is off and cool.
- Locate the No. 1 spark plug wire.
- Attach the inductive pick-up clamp to the No. 1 spark plug wire, ensuring the arrow on the clamp points towards the spark plug. A secure connection is crucial for accurate readings.
Caution: Improper connection of the inductive pick-up can lead to inaccurate readings, intermittent light flashes, or the timing light not functioning.

Operating Instructions

- Power On/Off: Press and hold the "4/2" button to power the device on or off.
- Stroke Selection: Tap the "4/2" button to switch between 2-stroke and 4-stroke engine modes.
- Function Selection: Short press the "FUN" button to cycle through the four main operating modes:
- RPM Mode: Displays engine revolutions per minute.
- Advance Angle Mode: Allows adjustment and display of ignition advance angle (0-90°). Use the "+" and "-" buttons to adjust the angle. Tap for 0.1° increments, hold for 1° increments.
- Dwell Angle Mode: Displays the dwell angle as a percentage.
- Voltage Test Mode: Displays the system voltage (0-35V).
- Performing Tests:
- Ignition Timing:
- Warm up the engine to operating temperature.
- With the inductive pick-up correctly clamped to the No. 1 spark plug wire, select Advance Angle Mode.
- Point the timing light at the engine's timing marks.
- Adjust the advance angle using the "+" and "-" buttons until the timing marks align as per your vehicle's specifications.
- Dwell Angle Test:
- Connect the test wire to terminal 1 of the ignition coil.
- Select Dwell Angle Mode.
- Read the dwell percentage on the display and adjust as necessary according to engine specifications.
- Voltage Test:
- Connect the test leads to the battery terminals (red to positive, black to negative).
- Select Voltage Test Mode.
- Read the voltage displayed to assess battery health or alternator output.
- Ignition Timing:

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the timing light in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Battery Care: For optimal battery life, charge the device regularly, especially if storing for extended periods. Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.
Troubleshooting
- No Light/Intermittent Flash:
- Check battery charge level. Recharge if necessary.
- Ensure the 12V clamps are securely connected to a 12V battery if using external power.
- Verify the inductive pick-up clamp is correctly attached to the No. 1 spark plug wire, with the arrow pointing towards the spark plug.
- Confirm the engine is running and the spark plug wire is functioning.
- Inaccurate Readings:
- Ensure the inductive pick-up clamp is securely and correctly attached.
- Check for strong electromagnetic interference near the spark plug wire.
- Verify the correct stroke mode (2-stroke/4-stroke) is selected.
- Ensure the engine is at operating temperature for timing adjustments.
- Display Issues:
- Check battery level. Low battery can affect display performance.
- If the display is frozen or unresponsive, try powering the device off and on again.
