Probe Installation

The probe can be installed in two ways:

  • Wall Clip: Use the provided wall clip to secure the probe to the side of your aquarium or container.
  • Floating Sponge: Attach the floating ring to the probe to allow it to float on the water surface.

Important Note on Probe Usage:

Do not fully submerge the probe in water. Excessive water pressure can damage the probe and reduce its lifespan. Ensure that only the sensing part of the probe is submerged, typically up to the indicated "Max Water Level" line. Do not connect the probe to the monitor while it is submerged in water.

Connecting to the Mobile App (Tuya)

The TEKCOPLUS monitor supports intelligent monitoring via Wi-Fi using the Tuya application.

  1. Download the Tuya Smart app from your smartphone's app store (iOS or Android).
  2. Register or log in to your Tuya account.
  3. Ensure your monitor is powered on and within range of a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. (Note: The device is only compatible with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.)
  4. Follow the in-app instructions to add a new device. The app will guide you through the pairing process.
  5. Once connected, you can view real-time readings, historical data, and set alarms directly from your smartphone.

Operating Instructions

Once the monitor and probe are set up and connected to the app, the device will begin displaying real-time water quality parameters.

Parameter Monitoring

The bright digital display on the monitor shows the following parameters:

  • pH: Measures the acidity or alkalinity of the water.
  • Temperature: Displays the water temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit.
  • TDS (Total Dissolved Solids): Indicates the concentration of dissolved solids in the water.
  • EC (Electrical Conductivity): Measures the electrical conductivity of the water, related to dissolved salts.
  • Salinity: Shows the salt content of the water.
  • ORP (Oxidation-Reduction Potential): Measures the water's ability to break down contaminants.
  • SG (Specific Gravity): Indicates the density of the water, particularly useful for saltwater applications.

The monitor features automatic unit switching for TDS (ppm/ppt) and conductivity (µS/cm and mS/cm) for convenience.

Smart Monitoring via Wi-Fi

Through the Tuya app, you can:

  • View real-time data from anywhere.
  • Track historical trends of water quality.
  • Set custom alerts and alarms for specific parameter thresholds.
  • Switch between temperature units (°C/°F) and other measurement units as needed.

Calibration

Regular calibration is crucial for maintaining the accuracy of your water quality monitor. It is recommended to calibrate the device every 4 to 6 months, or if you notice inconsistent readings.

pH Calibration

The monitor supports 3-point pH calibration using the provided pH buffer powders (pH 4.01, pH 6.86, pH 9.18).

  1. Prepare the calibration solutions by dissolving each pH powder packet in 250ml of distilled water.
  2. Refer to the specific calibration instructions within the Tuya app or the monitor's on-screen menu.
  3. Typically, you will immerse the probe in the first buffer solution (e.g., pH 6.86), wait for a stable reading, and confirm calibration.
  4. Repeat the process for the second (e.g., pH 4.01) and third (e.g., pH 9.18) buffer solutions.
  5. Always rinse the probe with distilled water between different buffer solutions to prevent contamination.

For other parameters like TDS, EC, and Salinity, consult the app or monitor settings for specific calibration procedures if required.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your TEKCOPLUS water quality monitor.

  • Probe Cleaning: Regularly clean the probe to remove any buildup of algae or mineral deposits. Use a soft brush and distilled water. Avoid abrasive materials.
  • Probe Storage: When not in use, store the probe with its protective cap filled with a suitable probe storage solution (or pH 4.01 buffer solution if storage solution is unavailable). Do not store the probe dry.
  • Probe Replacement: The probe is replaceable. If readings become consistently inaccurate despite calibration and cleaning, consider replacing the probe.
  • Monitor Cleaning: Wipe the monitor's display and body with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or immerse the monitor in water.
  • Calibration Schedule: Adhere to the recommended calibration schedule (every 4-6 months) to maintain optimal performance.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your TEKCOPLUS water quality monitor, please refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Inaccurate Readings:
    • Ensure the probe is clean and free from debris.
    • Perform a full calibration using fresh buffer solutions.
    • Check if the probe is correctly submerged (not fully, not too shallow).
    • Verify the probe's lifespan; it might need replacement if it's old or damaged.
  • No Display/Power Issues:
    • Check the USB power cable and power plugs for secure connections.
    • Ensure the power source is active.
  • Wi-Fi Connection Problems:
    • Confirm your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. The device does not support 5GHz networks.
    • Ensure the monitor is within range of your Wi-Fi router.
    • Restart your Wi-Fi router and the monitor.
    • Re-attempt the pairing process in the Tuya app.
  • Fluctuating Readings:
    • Ensure the probe is stable in the water and not affected by strong currents or air bubbles.
    • Check for electrical interference from other devices.
    • Clean and recalibrate the probe.

If the problem persists, please contact TEKCOPLUS customer support for further assistance.
