Setup and Installation

Proper installation and setup are crucial for optimal performance of your INJORA Big Bore Shocks.

  1. Preparation: Carefully unpack all components. Before filling with oil, it is recommended to clean any residual lubricant from the factory. The fluid present upon delivery is for lubrication during transit and should be removed.
  2. Oil Filling (Optional but Recommended): These shocks are designed to use shock oil for superior damping.
    • Unscrew the top cap of each shock.
    • Slowly add shock oil (not included) to the shock body. Important: Do not fully fill the shock body. Add only enough oil for a heavy coating on the internal components. Overfilling can lead to hydraulic lock or damage.
    • Slowly compress and extend the shock shaft a few times to remove any air bubbles.
    • Re-install the top cap securely.

  3. Remove Existing Shocks: Carefully remove the existing shocks from your RC car chassis. Refer to your RC vehicle's manual for specific instructions if needed.
  4. Install New Shocks: Mount the INJORA Big Bore Shocks onto your chassis. Ensure all mounting points are secure.
    • The shock bottom rod ends are available in nylon or brass. Choose the appropriate type for your setup.
    • Ensure the ball joint inserts fit snugly into the chassis mounting holes. If the smaller ball joints are loose, consider using the longer offset ball joints provided, or shims if necessary, to secure the connection.
  5. Adjust Pre-load: These shocks feature threaded bodies for quick pre-load adjustments. Rotate the threaded collar to compress or decompress the spring, adjusting the ride height and stiffness.
  6. Select Spring Rates: Two spring rates are included. Experiment with different springs to fine-tune the shocks to your chassis and driving conditions for optimal performance.

Operating Instructions

Once installed and tuned, your INJORA Big Bore Shocks will provide enhanced suspension performance.

  • Initial Testing: After installation, gently test your RC vehicle to observe the suspension's behavior. Check for any binding or uneven compression.
  • Fine-Tuning: Adjust the pre-load and experiment with the included spring rates to achieve the desired ride height, articulation, and damping characteristics for your specific RC crawler and terrain.
  • Performance: The big bore design and oil damping provide consistent rebound and improved control over bumps and uneven surfaces, making your RC crawler more stable and capable.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and consistent performance of your shocks.

  • Cleaning: After use, especially in dirty or wet conditions, clean the exterior of the shocks to prevent dirt and debris from entering the seals.
  • Oil Inspection/Refill: Periodically check the shock oil level and condition. If damping performance degrades, the oil may need to be refilled or replaced. Follow the oil filling instructions in the "Setup and Installation" section.
  • Seal Inspection: Inspect the bladder seals and O-rings for wear or damage. Replace them if necessary to prevent oil leakage and maintain consistent damping.
  • Hardware Check: Ensure all mounting screws and connections remain tight.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your INJORA Big Bore Shocks, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Shock Detachment / Loose Fit:

    If the ball joint inserts at the shock ends appear too small for your chassis mounting points, causing the shock to slip off, ensure you are using the correct size. The kit includes different sizes, including longer offset ball joints. If the standard smaller ball joints are loose, try using the longer offset ones or consider adding small shims to secure the connection.

  • Inconsistent Damping / Leaking Oil:

    This can indicate low shock oil levels or worn seals. Check the oil level and refill if necessary (refer to "Setup and Installation"). Inspect the O-rings and bladder seals for any damage and replace them if worn.

  • Shocks Not Compressing Fully:

    Ensure the shock body is not overfilled with oil, which can cause hydraulic lock. Also, check for any binding in the shock shaft or spring. The maximum travel is 9mm (0.35in).
