Setup

1. Battery Installation and Activation

Insert the provided lithium battery (WB400P) into the battery compartment on the rear of the flash unit. Ensure it clicks securely into place. If the battery has not been used for over a month, it may enter sleep mode. To activate, short press the right side of the battery indicator button.

2. Attaching the Reflector

Align the reflector with the Godox mount on the front of the flash unit. Rotate clockwise until it locks into position. To remove, press the release button and rotate counter-clockwise.

3. Mounting on a Light Stand

Attach the flash unit to a standard light stand using the integrated mounting bracket. Secure it by tightening the locking knob.

4. Powering On

Press and hold the power button until the display illuminates. The unit is now ready for operation.

Operating Instructions

1. Adjusting Flash Power

Use the dial on the control panel to adjust the flash output from 1/1 (full power) to 1/512. The current power setting is displayed on the TFT screen.

2. Wireless X System Setup

To use the 2.4GHz Wireless X System, ensure your Godox X3 trigger (or compatible X-series transmitter) is powered on and set to the desired channel and group. The AD400Pro II can be synced with the X3 trigger using the one-tap sync feature for quick setup.

3. High-Speed Sync (HSS)

Activate HSS mode on your camera and trigger to achieve shutter speeds up to 1/8000s. This allows for balancing flash with ambient light in bright conditions or freezing fast motion.

4. Freeze Mode

Select Freeze Mode from the flash settings menu to achieve ultra-short flash durations for capturing extremely fast-moving subjects without motion blur.

5. Modeling Lamp Operation

Press and hold the modeling lamp button to toggle the 30W bi-color LED lamp on or off. Use the menu to adjust brightness (10-100%) and color temperature (2800K-6000K) in Constant mode, or select Prop mode for brightness linked to flash output.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the flash unit. Avoid using solvents or abrasive cleaners.
  • Battery Care: Store the lithium battery in a cool, dry place. If not used for extended periods, charge it periodically to maintain battery health.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the AD400Pro II in its protective case in a dry environment, away from extreme temperatures.
