4. Setup
4.1 Powering the Device
- Battery Installation (Wireless Mode):
Locate the battery compartment on the back of the motion sensor. Insert 3 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the compartment securely.
- USB Power (Wired Mode):
Connect the provided USB cable to the USB port on the motion sensor. Plug the other end into a compatible USB charger (not included) or a powered USB port. The device will draw power from the USB connection.
4.2 Installation
- Placement:
Choose a location where the sensor has an unobstructed view of the area you wish to monitor. Ensure it is within the 120° detection angle and up to 26 feet (8 meters) range. Avoid placing it directly facing heat sources or in direct sunlight, which can cause false alarms.
- Mounting Options:
- Adhesive Sticker: For temporary or non-damaging installation, peel the backing from the adhesive sticker and firmly press the sensor onto a clean, dry surface.
- Screws: For a more permanent installation, use the provided screws to mount the sensor to a wall or other suitable surface. Ensure the mounting surface can support the device.
- Freestanding: The device can also be placed on a flat surface such as a table or shelf without mounting.
4.3 Remote Control Pairing
The remote control is typically pre-paired with the motion sensor alarm. If pairing is required or if you are adding a new remote:
- Ensure the motion sensor is powered on.
- Press and hold the pairing button (refer to device diagram if available, or try a small button often found near the battery compartment) on the motion sensor until you hear a beep or see an indicator light flash.
- Within a few seconds, press any button on the remote control. The sensor should emit a confirmation sound or light to indicate successful pairing.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Switching Modes
The TECKNET Motion Sensor Alarm offers two primary operating modes:
- Bell Mode: When motion is detected, the unit will emit a gentle chime sound. This mode is suitable for welcoming visitors in shops or as a simple notification system.
- Alarm Mode: When motion is detected, the unit will activate a loud 125 dB siren to deter intruders. This mode is ideal for security purposes.
To switch between modes, use the dedicated mode button on the remote control or the unit itself (if available). A distinct sound or indicator light will confirm the selected mode.
5.2 Arming and Disarming
Use the remote control to arm or disarm the motion sensor alarm.
- Arm: Press the "Arm" button on the remote control. The unit will typically beep once to confirm it is armed. In Alarm Mode, it will now trigger the siren upon motion detection. In Bell Mode, it will chime.
- Disarm: Press the "Disarm" button on the remote control. The unit will typically beep twice to confirm it is disarmed. Motion detection will no longer trigger an alert.
Note: Ensure you disarm the unit before entering the monitored area to avoid false alarms.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the sensor lens and unit exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Replacement: When the batteries are low, the unit may indicate this with a specific sound or light. Replace all 3 AA batteries simultaneously with new ones to ensure optimal performance.
