Operation

Proper operation ensures a smooth finish and extends the life of your sprayer.

  1. Prepare Paint: Dilute your paint to the recommended viscosity using the provided viscometer cup. Fill the viscometer cup with paint and time how long it takes for the paint to drain completely. Refer to the paint manufacturer's guidelines for specific viscosity recommendations.
  2. Diagram illustrating the use of a viscometer cup to measure paint viscosity, with estimated times for low, medium, and high viscosity paints.

Figure 2: Using the viscometer cup to check paint viscosity.

  3. Fill Paint Container: Pour the prepared paint into the 1200ml container.
  4. Adjust Spray Pattern: Rotate the air cap to select your desired spray pattern:
    • Vertical: For horizontal surfaces.
    • Horizontal: For vertical surfaces.
    • Circular: For small areas or detailed work.
  5. Diagram showing vertical, horizontal, and circular spray patterns achievable with the NANWEI paint sprayer.

  8. Nozzle Selection: Choose the nozzle size based on paint type and desired finish:
    • 1.55mm / 1.8mm: Suitable for paints requiring high sprayability, such as water-based paints, topcoats, and recoat paints.
    • 2.2mm / 2.6mm: Suitable for thicker paints such as primers and latex paints.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular cleaning is crucial for optimal performance and longevity of your paint sprayer.

  1. Empty Container: After each use, empty any remaining paint from the container.
  2. Rinse Container: Fill the container with an appropriate cleaning solution (water for water-based paints, mineral spirits for oil-based paints) and spray it through the nozzle until clear.
  3. Disassemble and Clean: Disassemble the spray attachment, nozzle, and suction tube. Use the provided cleaning brush and needle to thoroughly clean all components, removing any paint residue. Rinse under running water.
  4. Clean Filters: Inspect and clean the filters regularly. Replace if damaged.

Refer to Video 1 in the Setup section for a visual guide on cleaning procedures.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your paint sprayer, consider the following common solutions:

  • No Spray or Weak Spray: Check paint viscosity, ensure nozzle is clear, verify suction tube is correctly positioned, and confirm battery is charged.
  • Uneven Spray Pattern: Adjust the air cap for the desired pattern, ensure the nozzle is clean and not clogged, and check paint consistency.
  • Paint Dripping: Ensure all connections are tight, the nozzle is clean, and the paint viscosity is appropriate.
  • Motor Not Running: Check battery connection and charge level.
