What's in the Box
Your hygger Hang On Back Aquarium Filter package includes the following components:
- Hygger Hang On Back Aquarium Filter Unit (Model HUS-HG137)
- Water Inlet Tube (with extension pipe)
- Pre-filter Biochemical Sponge
- Filter Cartridges (2 pre-installed, 2 spare)
- Instruction Manual

Setup Instructions
- Assemble the Intake Tube: Connect the extension tube and pre-filter biochemical sponge to the main water inlet tube. Ensure all connections are tight.
- Install Filter Cartridges: The filter comes with two cartridges pre-installed. If replacing, ensure they are correctly seated in their compartments.
- Position the Filter: Hang the filter unit on the back of your aquarium. Ensure the intake tube is submerged in the water and the filter is stable. The rubber strut on the back helps keep the filter vertical and prevents overflow.
- Prime the Filter: IMPORTANT: Before plugging in the filter, fill the filter canister with water from your aquarium. This primes the pump and prevents dry running.
- Connect to Power: Once the filter is primed and properly positioned, plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions
Once the filter is set up and plugged in, it will begin to draw water from the aquarium, pass it through the filtration media, and return clean, oxygenated water via the waterfall outlet.
- Adjusting Water Flow: The filter features an adjustable knob on the top of the unit. Turn this knob to increase or decrease the water flow rate according to your aquarium's needs and the fish species.
- Quiet Operation: The filter is designed for low noise. Ensure the water level in the tank is adequate to prevent splashing noises from the waterfall.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of your filter.
- Weekly Cleaning: Regularly clean the filter unit and its parts, including the intake tube and impeller, to prevent debris buildup.
- Filter Cartridge Replacement: Replace the filter cartridges every month. The package includes spare cartridges for convenience. You can also customize with other filter media as needed.
- Intake Sponge Replacement: Replace the intake sponge every 2 to 3 months to maintain effective pre-filtration.
