Setup

1. Gateway Setup

  1. Connect the Sub-GHz Gateway: Plug the gateway into a power outlet.
  2. Reset the Gateway: Press and hold the button on the gateway for 7 seconds until the WiFi indicator light flashes. This prepares the gateway for pairing.

2. Irrigation Timer Setup

  1. Install Batteries: Insert two 1.5V AA batteries (not included) into the irrigation timer.
  2. Prepare for Pairing: Press and hold any of the three buttons on the timer for 7 seconds. Ensure the RF indicator light flashes white rapidly.

3. App Installation and Pairing

  1. Download App: Download the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app from your mobile app store. Register and log in.
  2. Enable Bluetooth & Connect to 2.4GHz WiFi: Ensure your phone's Bluetooth is enabled and connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network. (Note: 5GHz WiFi is not supported for initial setup).
  3. Add Device: In the app, tap 'Add Device' or the '+' icon. The app should automatically discover the Sub-GHz Gateway. Follow the on-screen prompts to add it.
  4. Add Irrigation Timer to Gateway: Once the gateway is added, select it in the app. Then, tap 'Add Device' again to add the irrigation timer. Choose 'Four-way water timer' from the product list.
  5. Complete Pairing: Follow the app instructions to complete the pairing process. Once successful, you will see the timer listed under the gateway.

4. Physical Installation

Once paired, connect the timer to your outdoor faucet and attach your hoses to the four independent outlets. Ensure all connections are secure to prevent leaks.

Operating Instructions

The johgee WiFi Irrigation Timer offers flexible and intelligent watering options through the app.

1. Independent Zone Control

The timer features four independent outlets (Zone A, B, C, D). Each zone can be programmed separately with up to 5 customizable schedules, allowing you to tailor watering to different areas of your garden.

2. Scheduling Modes

You can set up timed irrigation using two main modes:

  • Single Irrigation Mode: Set a specific start time and duration for a one-time watering event.
  • Cycle Irrigation Mode: Program recurring watering schedules with customizable start times, durations (1 second to 11 hours 59 minutes 59 seconds), and frequency (e.g., daily, specific days of the week, every few days).

3. Flexible Irrigation Modes

Choose between two flexible irrigation options:

  • Watering Mode: Standard irrigation for gardens and lawns.
  • Spray Mode: Ideal for misting greenhouses or specific plants. You can set up to 5 watering plans and 1 spray plan.

4. Rain Delay Function

Prevent overwatering with the rain delay feature:

  • Automatic Rain Detection: The system can automatically detect weather conditions and delay watering if rain is expected.
  • Manual Rain Delay: You can manually set a rain delay for 24, 48, or 72 hours via the app.

5. Manual Watering

For immediate watering needs, you can activate manual watering directly from the app. This allows you to water for a specific duration, up to 59 minutes and 59 seconds, without affecting your programmed schedules.

6. Smart Voice Control

The johgee irrigation timer is compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant. You can use simple voice commands to control your watering system.

7. Monitoring Irrigation Records

The app allows you to view a detailed history of your watering activities, including start times and durations, for each zone.

Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: Replace the AA batteries in the irrigation timer when the low battery indicator appears in the app or on the device.
  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the timer's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
  • Winterization: Before freezing temperatures, disconnect the timer from the faucet, remove batteries, and store the unit indoors in a dry, protected area to prevent damage.
  • Check Connections: Regularly inspect all hose connections and O-rings for wear and tear. Replace O-rings if leaks occur.

Troubleshooting

  • Device not connecting to app:
    • Ensure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network.
    • Verify the gateway's WiFi indicator is flashing during pairing.
    • Check if the timer's RF indicator is flashing white rapidly during pairing.
    • Make sure the gateway is within 300 meters (984 feet) of the timer in an open environment.
    • Restart the gateway and timer, then try pairing again.
  • Watering schedule not running:
    • Check battery levels in the timer.
    • Ensure the timer is connected to the gateway and the app shows it online.
    • Verify that no rain delay is active.
    • Confirm the schedule is correctly set and enabled in the app.
  • Water leaks from connections:
    • Tighten all connections securely.
    • Ensure O-rings are properly seated and not damaged. Replace if necessary.
    • Use thread seal tape on threaded connections if needed.
  • Voice control not working:
    • Ensure your johgee account is linked to your Alexa or Google Assistant app.
    • Check your internet connection.
    • Verify the device name used in voice commands matches the name in the app.
