VEVOR Propane Torch Weed Burner 27in

VEVOR Propane Torch Weed Burner (Model: Propane Torch Weed Burner 27in) Instruction Manual

1. Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and effective use of your VEVOR Propane Torch Weed Burner. This heavy-duty tool is designed for various applications including weed control, melting ice and snow, asphalt work, and charcoal ignition. It features a high output of 1,800,000 BTU, a 10 ft hose for extended reach, an adjustable flame, and a convenient turbo trigger with a push-button igniter.

Please read this manual thoroughly before operation and retain it for future reference.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: Propane is highly flammable. Failure to follow these safety instructions can result in serious injury, property damage, or death.

  • Always operate the torch in a well-ventilated outdoor area.
  • Keep the torch and propane tank away from flammable materials, structures, and vegetation not intended for burning.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including heat-resistant gloves, long sleeves, long pants, and eye protection.
  • Before each use, inspect the hose, connections, and torch for any signs of damage, leaks, or wear. Do not use if damaged.
  • Perform a leak test with soapy water on all connections before lighting the torch. Bubbles indicate a leak.
  • Ensure the propane tank is upright and stable during operation.
  • Never point the lit torch at people, animals, or anything other than the intended target.
  • Do not leave a lit torch unattended.
  • After use, turn off the gas supply at the propane tank valve first, then allow the flame to extinguish before closing the torch's gas control valve.
  • Allow the torch to cool completely before storing.
  • Store propane tanks in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and ignition sources.
  • This product is CCSAus-certified for safe use.

4. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your propane torch:

  1. Connect the Propane Tank: Ensure the gas control valve on the torch handle is in the 'OFF' position. Connect the 14 TPI connector on the end of the 10 ft hose to a compatible propane tank (1 lb to 100 lb capacity). Hand-tighten securely.
  2. Check for Leaks: After connecting, slowly open the propane tank valve. Apply a soapy water solution to all connections. If bubbles appear, close the tank valve immediately and re-tighten the connection. Repeat the leak test until no bubbles are present.
  3. Positioning: Place the propane tank in a stable, upright position away from the area you intend to work on. The 10 ft hose provides ample reach.

5. Operating Instructions

Once the torch is set up and leak-tested, you can begin operation:

  1. Open Propane Tank Valve: Slowly open the valve on your propane tank to allow gas flow.
  2. Adjust Gas Flow: Rotate the gas control valve on the torch handle to a low setting. You should hear a faint hiss of gas.
  3. Ignite the Torch: Point the torch nozzle away from yourself and any flammable objects. Press the automatic igniter button. The torch should light instantly. If it does not light, close the gas control valve, wait a few seconds, and repeat the process.
  4. Adjust Flame: Once lit, slowly open the gas control valve further to increase the flame intensity as needed for your task. The turbo trigger can be pressed for a momentary boost in flame output.
  5. Application: Direct the flame towards the target area. For weed control, pass the flame over the weeds quickly to heat and char them, causing them to dry out and die. For other applications like snow melting or asphalt work, apply heat as required.
  6. Shut Down: When finished, first close the valve on the propane tank completely. Allow the flame to burn out from the remaining gas in the hose. Once the flame is extinguished, close the gas control valve on the torch handle.

6. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your VEVOR Propane Torch Weed Burner:

  • Cleaning: After the torch has cooled completely, wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or debris.
  • Hose Inspection: Regularly inspect the propane hose for cracks, cuts, abrasions, or any signs of damage. Replace the hose immediately if any damage is found.
  • Nozzle Inspection: Check the large steel nozzle for any obstructions or damage. Ensure it is clear for proper flame output.
  • Storage: Store the torch and hose in a clean, dry place, disconnected from the propane tank. Ensure the propane tank is stored separately in a well-ventilated area, away from heat sources and direct sunlight.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your VEVOR Propane Torch Weed Burner, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Flame or Weak Flame:
    • Ensure the propane tank valve is fully open.
    • Check that the gas control valve on the torch handle is open.
    • Verify there is sufficient propane in the tank.
    • Inspect the hose and connections for leaks (perform a soapy water test).
    • Check the nozzle for any obstructions.
  • Igniter Not Working:
    • Ensure the igniter button is fully depressed.
    • Check for any debris around the igniter tip.
    • If the igniter consistently fails, a long lighter or striker can be used to manually ignite the torch while ensuring gas flow is minimal and safety precautions are strictly followed.
  • Connections Loosening:
    • Ensure all connections are hand-tightened securely before each use. Avoid over-tightening, which can damage threads.
    • Regularly check connections during operation for any loosening, especially if the torch is moved frequently.

If problems persist after attempting these steps, contact VEVOR customer support.
