8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter problems with your dimmer switch, refer to the following common issues and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Lights do not turn on. | No power to the dimmer. Loose wiring connection. Bulbs are faulty or non-dimmable. | Check circuit breaker. Verify wiring connections (power off first). Replace bulbs or ensure they are dimmable LEDs. |
| Lights flicker or hum. | Incompatible LED bulbs. Overloaded circuit. Loose wiring. | Ensure bulbs are dimmable LEDs compatible with trailing edge dimmers. Reduce total wattage of connected lights. Check wiring connections (power off first). |
| Remote control not working. | Dead battery. Obstruction between remote and dimmer. Remote not paired (if applicable). | Replace remote control battery. Ensure clear line of sight to the dimmer's IR receiver. Refer to the remote's specific instructions for pairing if necessary. |
| Dimmer gets hot. | Overloaded circuit. Poor ventilation. | Reduce total wattage of connected lights. Ensure adequate airflow around the dimmer. If overheating persists, discontinue use and consult an electrician. |
