Setup
1. Receiver Installation
- Turn off power: Before beginning, ensure the power to your ceiling fan is completely off at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
- Access fan wiring: Remove the canopy from your ceiling fan to access the wiring connections.
- Disconnect existing wiring: Carefully disconnect the existing wiring from the fan to the household supply.
- Connect the receiver: Wire the FAN28R receiver according to the diagram provided with your fan or the receiver. Typically, this involves connecting the receiver's input wires to the household supply and the receiver's output wires to the fan motor and light kit. Use the provided wire nuts to secure all connections.
- Position receiver: Carefully tuck the receiver into the fan's canopy, ensuring no wires are pinched.
- Reattach canopy: Securely reattach the fan canopy.
2. Battery Installation
The remote control requires batteries for operation. Please check the battery compartment for the correct battery type. The compartment typically indicates either two 1.5V AAA batteries or one 12V 'A23' battery.
- Open battery compartment: Slide open the battery cover on the back of the remote control.
- Insert batteries: Insert the required batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
- Close compartment: Replace the battery cover securely.

3. Programming the Remote Control
There are two primary methods for programming the remote control, depending on your original remote or receiver:
Method A: Dip Switch Programming (No 'Learn' Button)
If your original remote control or receiver does not have a 'learn' button, you will use the dip switches:
- Locate dip switches: Open the battery compartment of the new remote control. You will find a set of 4 on/off switches (dip switches).
- Match settings: Set these 4 switches to match the exact on/off pattern of the dip switches found on your existing remote control or the receiver unit in your ceiling fan.
- Test: Once the switches are matched, replace the battery cover and restore power to the fan. Test the remote control's functions.
Method B: 'Learn' Button Programming
If your original remote control or receiver was programmed using a 'learn' button:
- Restore power: Ensure power to the ceiling fan is on.
- Press 'Learn' button: On the new remote control, press and hold the 'Learn' button (if present, often located in the battery compartment or on the receiver) for approximately 5 seconds. The fan light may blink or the fan may briefly turn on to indicate successful pairing.
- Test: Test the remote control's functions.
Operating Instructions
The FAN-35T remote control features 5 buttons for controlling your ceiling fan and light:

- Fan Speed Control: The remote includes three buttons for fan speed: High, Medium, and Low. Press the desired button to adjust the fan speed.
- Fan OFF: Press the OFF button to turn the ceiling fan off.
- Light Dimmer: The Light Dimmer button controls the brightness of incandescent lights. Press and hold to dim or brighten. For LED or CFL bulbs, this button will typically only control the ON/OFF function, not dimming, unless the bulbs are specifically designed for dimming with this type of control.
Note: This remote control does not include a reverse function button for changing fan blade direction.
Maintenance
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the remote's range decreases or it becomes unresponsive. Follow the battery installation steps in the Setup section.
- Cleaning: Clean the remote control with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the remote in water.
- Storage: If storing the remote for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Remote not responding to fan/light. | Dead batteries, incorrect programming, power off. | Replace batteries. Re-program the remote control (see Setup section). Ensure power to the fan is on. |
| Light does not dim. | Non-dimmable bulbs (LED/CFL). | The dimmer function only works with incandescent bulbs. For LED/CFL, it will only turn lights on/off. Replace with dimmable bulbs if dimming is desired. |
| Fan operates intermittently or erratically. | Loose wiring, interference, receiver issue. | Turn off power and check all wiring connections in the canopy. Ensure the receiver is not obstructed. Re-program the remote. |
| Remote range is poor. | Low batteries, obstructions. | Replace batteries. Ensure a clear line of sight to the fan receiver if possible. |
