5. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper assembly and installation of your sand filter pump system.

5.1 Assembling the Pump and Filter Tank

  1. Attach the pump to the integrated base by sliding it into position until it locks securely.
  2. Install the filter drain plug at the bottom of the filter tank. Ensure a large flat gasket is placed on the inside and another on the outside before screwing the cap on tightly.
  3. Insert the filter assembly (standpipe with laterals) into the center of the filter tank.
  4. Carefully add the filter media (sand or filter balls) into the tank, ensuring the filter assembly remains centered. For sand, the particle size should be 0.8-1.5mm.
  5. Place the top diffuser over the filter assembly.
  6. Attach the 7-way multi-port valve to the top of the filter tank. Ensure the O-ring is properly seated and align the arrows on the valve and tank before securing with the flange clamp and bolts. Tighten bolts evenly.
  7. Connect the pump to the multi-port valve using the provided hose and clamps.
  8. Install the pressure gauge onto the multi-port valve.

  1. Filter (Mode 1): This is the standard operating mode for filtering pool water. Water passes through the sand filter media, removing impurities, and returns to the pool.
  2. Backwash (Mode 2): Used to clean the filter by reversing the water flow. This flushes accumulated debris out of the filter and into the waste line. Perform backwashing when the pressure gauge reading is 8-10 PSI above the clean filter pressure.
  3. Rinse (Mode 3): After backwashing, this mode is used to flush any remaining dirty water from the filter valve and settle the sand bed before returning to filter mode. Run for about 30-60 seconds.
  4. Waste (Mode 4): Directly removes water from the pool to the waste line without passing through the filter. Useful for lowering pool water level or vacuuming heavy debris directly to waste.
  5. Closed (Mode 5): Stops all water flow through the valve. Never use this setting while the pump is running.
  6. Recirculate (Mode 6): Mixes pool water without filtering it. Water bypasses the filter media and is returned directly to the pool. Useful for chemical distribution.
  7. Antifreeze (Mode 7 - if applicable): Prevents the filter valve from freezing in winter conditions.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your sand filter pump system.

7.1 Backwashing the Filter

Backwash the filter when the pressure gauge reads 8-10 PSI higher than the clean filter pressure. This indicates that the filter media is saturated with debris and needs cleaning.

  1. Turn off the pump.
  2. Set the 7-way valve to the
