3. Controller Layout

The ECHTPower EP04 controller features a standard ergonomic design with several key components:

  • TMR Hall Effect Joysticks: Located on the left and right, providing precise, drift-free control.
  • ABXY Buttons: Illuminated action buttons (A, B, X, Y) with a one-click layout switch.
  • D-Pad: Interchangeable directional pad for accurate input.
  • Dual Hall Triggers: Adaptive triggers with adjustable travel distance.
  • Shoulder Buttons (LB/RB): Standard left and right bumper buttons.
  • Programmable Back Buttons (M1/M2): Two customizable buttons on the rear of the controller.
  • Function Buttons: Home, Share, Menu, and FN buttons for various system and controller functions.

4. Setup & Connection

4.1. Charging the Controller

The EP04 controller comes with a smart charging dock. To charge, simply place the controller onto the dock. The controller will automatically begin charging and enter sleep mode. When removed from the dock, it will instantly reconnect to the last paired device.

4.2. Connecting to Devices

The ECHTPower EP04 supports multiple connection methods for broad compatibility:

  • Wireless 2.4G: Use the included USB receiver for PC, Steam Deck, and other compatible devices.
  • Bluetooth: Connect wirelessly to Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, iOS, Android, and Tesla systems.
  • Wired Connection: Connect directly via USB cable for a stable, low-latency connection.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. One-Click ABXY Layout Switch

The controller features a unique one-click switch to change the visual display of the ABXY button layout. This allows you to visually match the button labels to either PC ('X' layout) or Nintendo Switch ('S' layout) conventions. Important Note: This switch only changes the button label display and does not alter the controller's actual output or button mapping to the connected system. Any remapping must be done through the game or system settings.

5.2. TMR Hall Effect Joysticks

Equipped with advanced TMR Hall joysticks, the EP04 controller offers enhanced precision and durability. These joysticks are designed to resist drift and wear, providing a consistent and accurate gaming experience with zero dead zones and a 5 million lifespan. Ideal for games requiring high precision, such as FPS and action titles.

5.3. Dual Hall Triggers

The dual Hall triggers allow for adjustable travel distance, catering to different game genres. Switch between a 9mm long trigger travel for immersive racing games and a 2mm short travel for rapid response in shooting games. This feature provides both speed and precision as needed.

5.4. 4-Motor Vibration Feedback

Experience enhanced immersion with four vibration motors located in both the triggers and grips. This system delivers realistic haptic feedback, allowing you to feel every impact, explosion, and movement, enriching your gaming experience in racing, shooting, and adventure games.

5.5. Programmable Back Buttons (M1/M2)

The M1 and M2 back buttons can be programmed for up to 21 inputs, including ABXY, LB/RB, LT/RT, L3/R3, BACK/START, and left/right stick movements. To set: In a connected state, press FN + M1 (or M2) until the mode light blinks slowly and the controller vibrates. Enter the desired input sequence, then press M1 (or M2) to save. To delete saved macro settings, press FN + M1/M2 until the mode light blinks slowly and the controller vibrates, then press M1/M2 again to confirm.

5.6. Turbo Function

The controller supports a Turbo function with three adjustable speeds (5/s, 15/s, 20/s). To activate, press the T button + target button. To adjust Turbo speed, press FN + Left Stick Up/Down. To disable Turbo, press T + target button a third time.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your ECHTPower EP04 controller, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the controller. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, ensuring no moisture enters openings.
  • Storage: Store the controller in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Avoid Drops: Protect the controller from drops and impacts, which can damage internal components.
  • Charging: Use only the provided charging cable and dock to prevent battery damage.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your ECHTPower EP04 controller, please refer to the following common solutions:

  • Controller Not Connecting: Ensure the controller is fully charged. Verify that the correct connection mode (2.4G, Bluetooth, or Wired) is selected for your device. For Bluetooth, ensure your device's Bluetooth is enabled and the controller is in pairing mode.
  • Incorrect Button Response (ABXY): Remember that the one-click ABXY layout switch only changes the visual labels on the buttons (PC 'X' layout vs. Switch 'S' layout). It does not alter the actual button mapping or output to the system. If you require different button functionality, you may need to remap buttons within your game's settings or the operating system's controller configuration.
  • Drift or Unresponsive Joysticks: The TMR Hall Effect Joysticks are designed to prevent drift. If you experience issues, ensure the controller's firmware is up to date (check the manufacturer's website for updates).
  • Vibration Not Working: Check in-game settings to ensure vibration feedback is enabled. Some games or platforms may have options to disable or adjust vibration intensity.
  • Charging Issues: Ensure the charging cable is securely connected to both the dock and a power source. Confirm the controller is correctly seated on the smart charging dock.
