4. Setup
4.1 Physical Installation
The switch can be placed on a desktop or mounted on a wall.
- Desktop Placement: Place the switch on a stable, flat surface. Ensure adequate ventilation around the device.
- Wall Mounting: Use appropriate screws (not included) to secure the switch to a wall using the mounting holes on the device. Ensure the wall can support the weight of the switch and connected cables.
4.2 Power Connection
- Connect the power adapter to the DC 12V input port on the rear panel of the switch.
- Plug the other end of the power adapter into a standard electrical outlet.
- The power LED indicator on the front panel should illuminate, indicating the switch is powered on.
4.3 Network Connection
- Connect your network devices (e.g., computers, servers, NAS, routers) to the RJ45 ports using Ethernet cables. For optimal performance, use CAT6 or higher specification cables for 2.5Gbps connections.
- For SFP+ ports, insert compatible 1G/2.5G/10G SFP+ fiber optic modules (not included) into the SFP+ slots, then connect fiber optic cables to the modules.
- Verify the link/activity LEDs for each connected port. A solid green or amber light typically indicates a successful link, and blinking indicates data activity.
5. Operating the Switch
5.1 Basic Operation
Once powered on and connected, the switch operates automatically. It supports auto-negotiation for speed and duplex mode on RJ45 ports, and auto MDI/MDIX, eliminating the need for crossover cables.
5.2 LED Indicators
The LEDs on the front panel provide visual status of the switch and its connections:
- Power LED: On when the switch is powered.
- Link/Act LEDs (RJ45 Ports):
- Solid Green: 2.5Gbps link established.
- Solid Amber: 1Gbps link established.
- Solid Yellow: 100Mbps link established.
- Blinking: Data activity.
- Off: No link or device connected.
- Link/Act LEDs (SFP+ Ports):
- Solid Green: 10Gbps link established.
- Solid Amber: 1Gbps/2.5Gbps link established.
- Blinking: Data activity.
- Off: No link or SFP+ module/cable connected.
6. Web Management Interface
The switch features a web-based management interface for advanced configuration and monitoring.
6.1 Accessing the Web Interface
- Ensure your computer is connected to one of the switch's RJ45 ports.
- Configure your computer's IP address to be in the same subnet as the switch's default IP address (e.g., if the switch is 192.168.2.1, set your computer to 192.168.2.X, where X is not 1, and subnet mask 255.255.255.0).
- Open a web browser and enter the default IP address: 192.168.2.1
- When prompted, enter the default login credentials:
Username: admin
Password: admin

6.2 Key Management Features
The web interface provides access to various network management functions:
- VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network): Segment your network for improved security and performance.
- QoS (Quality of Service): Prioritize network traffic to ensure smooth performance for critical applications like voice and video.
- IGMP Snooping: Optimize multicast traffic delivery, especially useful for IPTV and streaming services.
- Link Aggregation (LACP): Combine multiple physical links into a single logical link for increased bandwidth and redundancy.
- Port Mirroring: Monitor network traffic by sending a copy of packets from one port to another.
- Jumbo Frame Support: Improve efficiency for large data transfers.
- MAC Address Management: Control access based on MAC addresses.
- Loop Protocol: Prevent network loops.

7. Maintenance
The SODOLA 2.5Gbps Web Managed 10-Port Switch is designed for low maintenance. Its fanless design ensures silent operation and reduces dust accumulation.
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the exterior of the switch with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
- Ventilation: Ensure that the ventilation holes on the sides of the switch are not blocked to allow for proper heat dissipation.
- Firmware Updates: Check the manufacturer's website periodically for firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your switch, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No Power LED | Power adapter not connected or faulty; power outlet not working. | Ensure power adapter is securely connected. Test power outlet with another device. Try a different power adapter if available. |
| No Link/Act LED for a connected device | Cable faulty or improperly connected; device not powered on or faulty; incorrect SFP+ module. | Check cable connections. Try a different Ethernet cable. Ensure the connected device is powered on and functioning. For SFP+ ports, ensure the module is correctly inserted and compatible. |
| Cannot access Web Management Interface | Incorrect IP address or subnet on PC; wrong login credentials; switch IP address changed. | Verify your PC's IP address is in the same subnet as the switch (default 192.168.2.1). Clear browser cache. Use default username 'admin' and password 'admin'. If the IP was changed and forgotten, perform a factory reset using the reset button. |
| Network performance is slow | Cable quality; network congestion; device limitations. | Ensure you are using CAT6 or higher cables for 2.5Gbps connections. Check for other high-bandwidth activities on the network. Ensure connected devices support 2.5Gbps or 10Gbps speeds. |
If the problem persists after trying these solutions, please contact SODOLA technical support for further assistance.
