7. Operating Instructions
7.1 Preheating the Machine
For optimal espresso extraction, ensure the machine is fully preheated. This usually takes a few minutes after turning it on. The indicator light will typically change or stabilize when ready.
7.2 Making Espresso
- Prepare the Portafilter: Insert the desired filter basket (one-cup or two-cup) into the portafilter.
- Add Coffee Grounds: Fill the filter basket with finely ground espresso coffee. Use the included scoop for measurement.
- Tamp the Coffee: Use the tamper end of the scoop to firmly press the coffee grounds evenly. Wipe any excess grounds from the rim of the portafilter.
- Attach Portafilter: Align the portafilter with the group head on the machine and twist it firmly to the right until it is securely locked in place.
- Place Cup: Place your espresso cup(s) on the drip tray directly under the portafilter spouts.
- Brew Espresso: Press the "One Cup Espresso" or "Two Cup Espresso" button. The machine will begin brewing.
- Stop Brewing: The machine will automatically stop brewing when the preset volume is reached. You can also manually stop it by pressing the button again.
- Remove Portafilter: Once brewing is complete, carefully remove the portafilter by twisting it to the left. Be cautious as it may still be hot.

7.3 Using the Milk Frother Steam Wand
The steam wand allows you to create rich, creamy milk foam for lattes and cappuccinos.
- Prepare Milk: Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to just below the spout.
- Activate Steam: Press the Steam Switch button. Wait for the steam indicator light to illuminate, indicating the machine has reached steaming temperature.
- Purge Steam Wand: Position an empty cup under the steam wand. Turn the Steam Knob briefly to release any condensed water, then turn it off.
- Froth Milk: Immerse the tip of the steam wand just below the surface of the milk. Slowly turn the Steam Knob to release steam. Move the pitcher up and down slightly to incorporate air and create foam.
- Heat Milk: Once desired foam is achieved, lower the wand deeper into the milk to heat it to the desired temperature (around 140-150°F / 60-65°C).
- Stop Steaming: Turn the Steam Knob to the off position, then press the Steam Switch button to deactivate the steam function.
- Clean Wand: Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue. Purge a small amount of steam again to clear the nozzle.

8. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your coffee maker.
8.1 Daily Cleaning
- Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray daily or when the indicator floats up.
- Portafilter and Filter Basket: After each use, remove spent coffee grounds and rinse the portafilter and filter basket under warm water. Use a brush to remove any stubborn residue.
- Steam Wand: As mentioned in the operating instructions, wipe the steam wand immediately after each use with a damp cloth and purge steam to clear the nozzle.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scourers.
8.2 Descaling
Mineral deposits from water can build up in the machine over time, affecting performance. Descale your machine every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.
- Prepare a descaling solution according to the descaler manufacturer's instructions (or use a mixture of white vinegar and water, typically 1:1 ratio).
- Fill the water tank with the descaling solution.
- Place a large container under the portafilter and steam wand.
- Run half of the solution through the portafilter by pressing the "Two Cup Espresso" button.
- Turn the Steam Knob to release steam through the wand until half of the remaining solution is used.
- Turn off the machine and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
- Run the remaining solution through both the portafilter and steam wand until the tank is empty.
- Rinse the water tank thoroughly and fill it with fresh, clean water.
- Run several full tanks of fresh water through the machine (both portafilter and steam wand) to rinse out any descaling solution residue.
