5.2 Battery Charging

Use the provided USB charging cable to charge the LiPo batteries. Connect the battery to the USB cable, then plug the USB cable into a suitable USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter). The indicator light on the USB cable will show charging status. Ensure batteries are fully charged before each flight for optimal performance.

5.3 Controller Pairing

To pair the remote controller with the aircraft:

  1. Ensure the aircraft's battery is connected and the aircraft is powered on.
  2. Open the battery cover on the remote controller.
  3. Press the power switch on the remote controller.
  4. Wait for a beeping sound, which indicates successful pairing.
  5. Once the remote controller buttons can control the aircraft, close the battery cover securely.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Remote Control Overview

Familiarize yourself with the remote control layout and functions:

  • Throttle Lever: Controls motor speed and altitude.
  • Elevator Lever: Controls pitch (nose up/down).
  • Rudder Gear: Controls yaw (left/right turning).
  • High/Low Speed Switch: Toggles between speed modes (upper left switch).
  • A/B/C Three-Gear Mode Switch: Selects flight control modes.

6.2 Takeoff Procedures

The DEERC F35 supports two takeoff methods:

DEERC F35 RC Plane Dual Takeoff Modes

Image: Illustration of the two takeoff modes: hand-thrown and ground takeoff from a runway.

  1. Taxi Takeoff (Ground Takeoff):
    • Turn on the low or high speed throttle (upper left switch).
    • Requires a smooth, flat surface (e.g., paved roads). Not suitable for grass, oily roads, mud, or uneven terrain.
    • Only 8 meters or less is needed for a taxi takeoff.
  2. Hand-throw Takeoff:
    • Turn on the high speed throttle (upper left switch).
    • Let the motor run for 5 seconds before throwing.
    • Gently throw the aircraft forward in a smooth, level motion.

6.3 Flight Modes and Speed Settings

The aircraft features adjustable speed and flight control modes:

  • High/Low Speed Mode: The default setting upon power-on is low speed mode. Press the upper left switch once to activate high speed mode (indicated by a "BB" sound).
  • Flight Control Modes (A/B/C):
    • Mode A (Beginner Mode): Provides smaller tail movement for gentle turns and a slower climb rate with elevator input. Includes a built-in gyro stabilizer.
    • Mode B (Intermediate Mode): Offers larger tail movement for tighter turns and a faster climb rate with elevator input. Includes a built-in gyro stabilizer.
    • Mode C (3D Flight Mode): Allows for advanced aerobatics such as knife-edge flying, barrel rolls, and flips. Recommended for experienced pilots only.

6.4 Flight Controls and Aerobatics

Once airborne, control the aircraft using the remote's levers and switches:

  • High Speed Turn (in high speed mode): Keep the throttle at 70%. Apply elevator input and use Mode B for tighter turns.
  • Low Speed Turn (in low speed mode): Keep the throttle at 100%. Mode A allows for a wider turning radius, while Mode B allows for tighter turns.
  • Aerobatics: In Mode C, execute 3D flips, mirror flight, 360° spins, and falling-leaf stunts.

6.5 Landing Procedures

Landing requires precision and practice. Applicable to both high and low speed modes, requiring approximately 30-50 meters of clear space.

  1. Gradually reduce throttle in the following order: 100% → 70% → 50%.
  2. At 5-7 meters altitude, maintain elevator input to control descent.
  3. At 2 meters above the ground, completely cut throttle while maintaining elevator input for a smooth glide and touchdown.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

Wipe the aircraft and remote control with a soft, dry cloth after each use. Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents that could damage the EPP foam or electronic components.

7.2 Storage

Store the aircraft in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove the batteries from both the aircraft and the remote control if storing for extended periods to prevent discharge or damage.

7.3 EPP Foam Repair

The EPP foam construction is designed for durability. In case of minor damage or cracks, use a foam-safe adhesive to repair the affected areas. Ensure the glue is fully cured before attempting to fly the aircraft again.

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Aircraft does not respond to remote control. Not paired; low battery in remote or aircraft.Re-pair the controller (refer to Section 5.3); charge/replace batteries.
Short flight time.Battery not fully charged; old battery.Ensure batteries are fully charged; consider replacing old batteries.
Aircraft flies erratically or is unstable.Damage to control surfaces; strong wind; incorrect flight mode.Check for physical damage and repair; fly in calm conditions; switch to Mode A or B for stability.
Aircraft does not take off.Insufficient throttle; unsuitable takeoff surface (for ground takeoff).Increase throttle; use a smooth, flat surface or attempt hand-throw takeoff.
