2. Setup

2.1 What's in the Box

Before you begin, ensure all components are present:

  • Mini Camera Flash (1)
  • USB-C Charging Cable (1)
  • Storage Bag (1)
  • Magnetic Spreader (1)
  • 1/2 CTO Magnetic Color Filter (1)
  • 1/1 CTO Magnetic Color Filter (1)

2.2 Installing the Flash

  1. Locate the hot shoe on your Canon camera.
  2. Press and hold the release button on the flash.
  3. Slide the flash's hot shoe connector into the camera's hot shoe parallelly until it clicks into place.

2.3 Turning On/Off

  • To turn on: Long-press the power key (usually marked with a circle or power symbol).
  • To turn off: Long-press the power key again. The flash will also auto-off after 8 hours of inactivity.

3. Operation

3.1 Flash Modes (M/TTL)

The Godox IT20C supports both Manual (M) and Through-The-Lens (TTL) flash modes.

  • To switch modes: Press the M button on the flash. The display will indicate the current mode.
  • In Manual (M) mode: Use the +/- buttons to adjust flash power from 1/32 to 1/1 in ±0.3 steps. Long-press for quick adjustment.
  • In TTL mode: Use the +/- buttons to adjust the Flash Exposure Compensation (FEC) value among ±3 steps with 1/3 increment. Long-press for quick adjustment.

4. Magnetic Accessories

The Godox IT20C comes with magnetic snap-on accessories to enhance your lighting creativity. These include diffusers and CTO/CTB color filters.

  • Magnetic Spreader (Diffuser): Softens the flash light for a more even and natural spread. Simply attach it magnetically to the front of the flash.
  • CTO/CTB Color Filters: Adjust the color temperature of the flash. CTO (Color Temperature Orange) filters warm up the light, while CTB (Color Temperature Blue) filters cool it down. These also attach magnetically.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Charging the Battery

The Godox IT20C features a built-in lithium battery rechargeable via USB-C.

  • Connect the provided USB-C charging cable to the flash's USB-C port.
  • Connect the other end of the cable to a power source (e.g., USB wall adapter, power bank, computer USB port).
  • The battery indicator on the display will show charging status.

5.2 Cleaning

  • Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the flash.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Keep the hot shoe contacts clean and dry to ensure proper communication with the camera.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Godox IT20C flash, try the following:

  • Flash not firing:
    • Ensure the flash is securely mounted on the camera's hot shoe.
    • Check the battery level and recharge if necessary.
    • Verify camera settings are configured for external flash.
  • Incorrect exposure:
    • In TTL mode, adjust the FEC using the +/- buttons.
    • In Manual mode, adjust the flash power level.
    • Ensure no obstructions are blocking the flash or camera sensor.
  • Flash not turning on:
    • Long-press the power button.
    • Charge the battery fully.
