1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Pawfly Aquarium Light Model Pawfly-2591. This LED reef light is designed to provide optimal lighting for corals and aquatic life in 1-3 gallon saltwater fish tanks, featuring full spectrum lighting, dimmable settings, and a built-in timer. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure proper function and longevity of your product.

2. Safety Instructions

  • Ensure the power adapter (not included) meets the specified requirements (5V 2A/9V 1A for stable lighting, 5V 1A may cause flicker at high brightness).
  • This product is rated IP67, meaning it is protected against temporary immersion in water. However, never submerge the light or expose it to spraying water directly.
  • Always unplug the light from the power source before performing any maintenance, cleaning, or handling the aquarium.
  • Keep the USB cable away from sharp objects and hot surfaces. Do not operate the light with a damaged cord or plug.
  • This light is designed for indoor use only.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the light. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.

4. Product Overview

The Pawfly Aquarium Light is a compact and efficient lighting solution for small marine tanks. It features a flexible gooseneck and an adjustable clip for easy installation.

  • LED Light Head: Circular design with 12,000 K white and 450 nm blue LEDs.
  • Flexible Gooseneck: Allows for adjustable light positioning.
  • Adjustable Clip: Securely attaches to tank walls up to 0.55 inches (1.4 cm) thick.
  • USB Cable with In-line Controller: For power and light adjustments.

5. Setup

  1. Attach the Light: Position the adjustable clip on the rim of your aquarium. Rotate the screw on the clip to firmly secure the light to the tank wall. Ensure the clip is stable and the light head is positioned above the water surface.
  2. Adjust Gooseneck: Bend the flexible gooseneck to direct the light towards the desired area of your tank.
  3. Connect Power: Plug the USB cable into a compatible USB power adapter (5V 2A/9V 1A recommended for stable performance). Then, plug the adapter into a power outlet.

6. Operating Instructions

The in-line controller allows for easy adjustment of lighting modes, intensity, and timer settings.

Button Functions:

  • M (On/Off & Mode Switching):
    • Long Press (3 seconds): Turns all lights on or off.
    • Short Press: Switches between Day Mode (white and blue lights) and Night Mode (blue light only).
  • D (White Light Brightness Control): Adjusts the brightness of the white light in Day Mode.
  • N (Blue Light Brightness Control): Adjusts the brightness of the blue light in both Day Mode and Night Mode.
  • Timer Button: Sets the lighting duration.

Lighting Modes:

The light offers two primary modes:

  • Day Mode: Both white and blue LEDs are active, providing full spectrum lighting.
  • Night Mode: Only blue LEDs are active, simulating moonlight conditions.

Intensity Levels:

Both white and blue lights have 6 adjustable intensity levels. Use the 'D' button for white light and 'N' button for blue light to cycle through these levels.

Timer Settings:

The built-in timer offers three preset lighting durations. Press the Timer button to select:

  • 8 H: The light will operate for 8 hours within a 24-hour cycle.
  • 10 H: The light will operate for 10 hours within a 24-hour cycle.
  • 12 H: The light will operate for 12 hours within a 24-hour cycle.

Once a duration is selected, the light will automatically turn on and off at the same time each day for the chosen period.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Regularly wipe the light head and gooseneck with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and water spots. Ensure the light is unplugged before cleaning.
  • Inspection: Periodically check the USB cable and connections for any signs of wear or damage.
  • Water Exposure: While the light is IP67 rated, avoid direct water splashes onto the control unit or USB connection.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Light does not turn on:
    • Ensure the USB cable is securely plugged into both the light and the power adapter.
    • Verify the power adapter is plugged into a working electrical outlet.
    • Try a different USB power adapter to rule out adapter failure.
    • Long press the 'M' button for 3 seconds to ensure the light is not in the off state.
  • Light flickers at high brightness:
    • This may occur if using a 5V 1A power adapter. Reduce the brightness level using the 'D' or 'N' buttons.
    • For stable lighting, use a 5V 2A or 9V 1A power adapter.
  • Timer not working correctly:
    • Ensure only one timer duration (8H, 10H, or 12H) is selected.
    • The timer operates on a 24-hour cycle from the moment it is set. If you unplug the light, the timer cycle will reset.
