Setup
1. Setting the Time
- Pull the crown (center knob) out to position 3. The second hand will stop.
- Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to set the hour and minute hands to the desired time.
- Push the crown back to position 1 to restart the watch.
2. Setting the Date
- Pull the crown out to position 2.
- Turn the crown clockwise to advance the date.
- Once the correct date is displayed, push the crown back to position 1.
- Note: Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this may interfere with the automatic date change mechanism.
3. Adjusting the Strap
The watch features a brown leather strap with a buckle closure. To adjust the fit, simply move the buckle pin to the desired hole on the strap. Ensure the watch is snug but comfortable on your wrist.

Operating the Chronograph and Functions
1. Fly-Back Chronograph
The fly-back chronograph allows for rapid resetting and restarting of the stopwatch function, ideal for timing consecutive events.
- To start the chronograph, press the upper pusher (A). The chronograph second hand will begin to move.
- To stop the chronograph, press the upper pusher (A) again.
- To perform a fly-back (reset and restart in one action), press the lower pusher (B) while the chronograph is running. The chronograph hands will instantly reset to zero and begin timing again.
- To reset the chronograph to zero when stopped, press the lower pusher (B).
2. Second Time Zone Indicator
The upper sub-dial, typically used for chronograph minutes, can also function as a second time zone indicator when the chronograph is not in use. Consult the full instruction manual for detailed setup of this feature, if not automatically linked to the main time setting.
3. Slide Rule Top Ring
The bidirectional rotating top ring features logarithmic scales, allowing for various calculations such as multiplication, division, distance, fuel consumption, and conversion of units. Align the inner scale with the outer scale to perform calculations. Detailed instructions for specific calculations are typically found in a comprehensive aviation slide rule manual.

Maintenance
1. Water Resistance
Your Timex watch is water resistant up to 100 meters (330 feet). This makes it suitable for showering, swimming, and snorkeling. Do not operate the crown or pushers while the watch is wet or submerged, as this can compromise the water resistance. Avoid exposure to hot water or steam, which can damage the seals.
2. Cleaning
To clean your watch, wipe the case and crystal with a soft, damp cloth. For the leather strap, avoid excessive moisture and harsh chemicals. If the strap becomes wet, allow it to air dry naturally away from direct heat or sunlight.
3. Battery Replacement
When the battery needs replacement, it is recommended to take your watch to an authorized Timex service center or a reputable watchmaker. This ensures proper battery installation and re-sealing to maintain water resistance.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Watch not running or running intermittently | Depleted battery | Replace battery at an authorized service center. |
| Time/Date not changing or incorrect | Crown not fully pushed in; incorrect setting procedure | Ensure crown is fully pushed to position 1. Re-set time and date according to instructions. |
| Chronograph hands not resetting to zero | Chronograph not properly reset; internal misalignment | Press the lower pusher (B) firmly to reset. If issue persists, seek professional service. |
| Moisture under crystal | Compromised water resistance | Immediately take the watch to a service center to prevent further damage. |
