2. Safety Instructions

  • This product is designed exclusively for heating water in pet aquariums. Do not use for any other purpose.
  • Ensure the heater is fully submerged in water at all times during operation. Exposure to air while heating can cause damage or malfunction.
  • Before performing any maintenance, water changes, or removing the heater from the tank, always unplug the unit and allow it to cool for at least 10 minutes.
  • Keep the external controller dry. Do not immerse it in water.
  • Regularly inspect the power cord and heater for any signs of damage. Do not use if damaged.
  • Ensure the power outlet is suitable for the heater's voltage (AC110V-120V/60Hz).

3. Setup

3.1 Installation Steps

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove the heater and controller from its packaging. Inspect for any visible damage.
  2. Placement: Position the heater inside your aquarium. It can be mounted vertically or horizontally using the included suction cups. Ensure the heater is at least 2 inches below the water surface to guarantee full submersion and proper heat distribution. Avoid burying the heater in sand or gravel.
  3. Secure: Press the suction cups firmly against the clean inner glass surface of the aquarium to secure the heater in place.
  4. Connect Power: Plug the heater's power cord into a suitable electrical outlet. The external controller will light up.

4. Operation

4.1 Setting the Temperature

  1. Once plugged in, the external controller's digital display will show the current water temperature.
  2. Press and hold the 'SET' button on the controller. The displayed temperature will begin to flash.
  3. While the temperature is flashing, use the up and down arrows (integrated with the 'SET' button) to adjust to your desired temperature. The adjustable range is 59°F to 93°F (15°C to 34°C).
  4. Release the 'SET' button. The display will flash for 3 seconds and then save your setting. The heater will now work to achieve and maintain this temperature.

4.2 Indicator Lights

  • Green Light: Indicates the heater is on standby or has reached the set temperature.
  • Red Light: Indicates the heater is actively heating the water.

Figure 4: This image highlights the external controller, showing its digital temperature display, the 'SET' button, and indicator lights. It explains that the green light means standby and the red light means heating. The adjustable temperature range is 59°F to 93°F with ±2°F accuracy.

4.3 Power-Off Memory Function

The heater features a power-off memory function. In the event of a power outage, the controller will automatically restore your last set temperature once power is re-established, eliminating the need for manual resetting.

Figure 5: This diagram shows that the heater's controller saves the set temperature, and automatically restores these settings after a power outage, eliminating the need for manual reset.

5. Maintenance

  • Regular Cleaning: Periodically clean the heater's surface to prevent algae or mineral buildup, which can reduce heating efficiency. Always unplug and cool the heater before cleaning. Use a soft brush or cloth and aquarium-safe cleaning solutions if necessary.
  • Check Suction Cups: Ensure the suction cups remain firmly attached to the aquarium glass. Re-attach if they become loose.
  • Inspect Cables: Regularly check the power cord and controller cable for any nicks, cuts, or damage.

6. Troubleshooting

The hygger Nano Submersible Aquarium Heater is equipped with an intelligent prevention system that provides visual and audible alarms for common issues.

  • 'EE' Error Code (Overheat Protection): If the water temperature exceeds 95°F, the controller will display 'EE' and emit a beeping sound. This indicates an overheat fault.
  • 'Er' Error Code (Low Water Warning): If the water level drops too low, exposing the heating rod to air, the controller will display 'Er' and beep. This is a low water level safety reminder.
  • 'EU' Error Code (Low Temperature Alarm): If the water temperature drops below 54°F, the controller will display 'EU' and beep.

To clear an alarm: Manually address the abnormal state (e.g., adjust water level, check for external heat sources, or ensure proper heater function). The alarm will clear once the condition is resolved.
