- First Use Cycle: Before brewing coffee, run a cycle with just water to prime the system. Ensure the water tank is filled, place a cup under the portafilter, and turn the machine on. Select the single or double shot button to run water through the system. Repeat this process for the steam wand by turning the control dial to the steam function and activating it until steam is released.
- Power On: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet. Turn on the main power switch, usually located on the side or back of the machine.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Making Espresso
- Prepare Portafilter: Insert the desired filter basket (single or double shot for ground coffee, or the capsule portafilter for capsules) into the portafilter handle.
- Add Coffee: For ground coffee, scoop fresh, finely ground espresso into the filter basket. Use the tamper to gently press the coffee grounds evenly. For capsules, insert the capsule into the capsule portafilter.
- Attach Portafilter: Align the portafilter with the brew head on the machine. Insert it sideways and twist it firmly to the right until it is securely locked in place.
- Place Cup: Position your espresso cup(s) on the drip tray directly under the portafilter spouts.
- Select Brew: Once the machine is heated (indicated by the LCD display), press the single shot (x1) or double shot (x2) button on the control panel. The machine will begin brewing espresso.
- Enjoy: Your espresso is ready when the brewing stops automatically.

4.2 Milk Frothing with Steam Wand
- Prepare Milk: Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to just below the spout.
- Activate Steam: Turn the control dial on the side of the machine to the steam function. Wait for the machine to heat up and indicate it's ready for steaming on the LCD display.
- Purge Steam Wand: Before frothing, briefly open the steam valve to release any condensed water. Close the valve once steam is consistently flowing.
- Froth Milk: Immerse the tip of the steam wand just below the surface of the milk. Open the steam valve fully. Hold the pitcher at an angle, moving it slightly up and down to create a swirling motion. This will incorporate air and create foam.
- Heat Milk: Once desired foam is achieved, lower the pitcher to immerse the steam wand deeper into the milk to heat it to your preferred temperature (typically 140-150°F / 60-65°C).
- Stop Steaming: Close the steam valve and remove the pitcher.
- Clean Steam Wand: Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying. Briefly open the steam valve again to clear any internal milk.

5. Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your espresso machine.
Daily Cleaning:
- Drip Tray: Empty and clean the drip tray and grid after each use or when the indicator floats up.
- Portafilter & Filter Baskets: Remove spent coffee grounds, rinse the portafilter and filter baskets under warm water.
- Steam Wand: Wipe immediately after use with a damp cloth. Purge steam to clear any milk residue.
- Water Tank: Rinse the water tank daily and refill with fresh water.
Weekly Cleaning:
- Brew Head: Wipe the brew head with a damp cloth to remove any coffee residue.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scourers.
Descaling:
Depending on water hardness and usage, descaling should be performed every 2-3 months. Refer to the full instruction manual for detailed descaling procedures using a suitable descaling solution.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your espresso machine, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No coffee dispenses. | Water tank empty; machine not primed; coffee too finely ground/over-tamped. | Fill water tank; run first use cycle; use coarser grind or less pressure when tamping. |
| Espresso is too weak or watery. | Coffee too coarsely ground; insufficient coffee; brewing too fast. | Use finer grind; increase coffee amount; ensure proper tamping. |
| Steam wand not producing steam. | Machine not heated to steam temperature; steam wand clogged. | Wait for steam indicator; clean steam wand thoroughly. |
| Machine leaks water. | Water tank not seated correctly; drip tray full. | Ensure water tank is properly installed; empty and clean drip tray. |
