1. Introduction

This manual provides important information regarding the installation, operation, and maintenance of your X-Sense XS0G-SN smoke detector. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and keep it for future reference. This device is designed to detect smoke and alert occupants to potential fire hazards, providing early warning.

2. Safety Information

  • Do not paint the detector. Paint can clog the openings and interfere with the sensor's ability to detect smoke.
  • Do not block the detector's openings. Ensure clear airflow around the device.
  • Test the detector weekly. Press the Test/Silence button to ensure the alarm is functioning correctly.
  • Do not install in areas with high humidity or extreme temperatures. Refer to specifications for operating conditions.
  • This device contains a sealed 10-year battery. Do not attempt to replace the battery. The entire unit must be replaced after 10 years.
  • In case of an alarm, evacuate immediately. Do not re-enter the premises until authorities have declared it safe.

5. Installation

5.1 Recommended Placement

For optimal protection, install smoke detectors in every sleeping area and on every level of your home, including the basement. For best results, follow these guidelines:

  • Install at least one detector in each sleeping area.
  • Install at least one detector on every level of the home.
  • For kitchens, install the detector as far as possible from cooking appliances and sinks to avoid false alarms. Ensure it has an accessible silence button.

5.2 Mounting Options

The XS0G-SN offers two installation methods: magnetic adhesive mounting or screw mounting.

Magnetic Mounting (for smooth surfaces):

  1. Ensure the mounting surface is clean and dry.
  2. Peel off the protective film from the magnetic adhesive pad.
  3. Firmly press the magnetic pad onto the desired ceiling or wall location.
  4. Attach the smoke detector to the magnetic pad. It will snap into place.

Screw Mounting (for rough surfaces or added security):

  1. Mark the screw hole positions on the ceiling or wall using the mounting bracket as a template.
  2. Drill holes at the marked positions.
  3. Insert the anchor plugs into the drilled holes.
  4. Secure the mounting bracket with the provided screws.
  5. Attach the smoke detector to the mounting bracket and twist clockwise to lock it in place.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Powering On/Off

The detector is activated upon installation. To power off the device for renovations, moving, or transport, use the manual switch located on the back of the unit. This helps prevent false alarms and conserves battery life.

6.2 Testing the Detector

Press and hold the Test/Silence button on the front of the detector for a few seconds. The alarm will sound, and the LED indicator will flash. This confirms the unit is functioning correctly. Test the detector weekly.

6.3 Silent Sleep Mode

The X-Sense XS0G-SN features a silent sleep mode. The LED indicator light will not flash during normal operation, ensuring an undisturbed environment, especially in bedrooms. The light will only activate to signal an alarm, low battery, fault, or end-of-life.

6.4 Alarm Indication

When smoke is detected, the alarm will sound loudly (85 dB) and the LED indicator will flash rapidly. This provides an immediate warning of danger.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning Your Detector

Clean your smoke detector at least once a month to remove dust and debris. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use cleaning solvents or harsh chemicals. Do not spray cleaning agents directly onto the detector.

7.2 Battery Information

The X-Sense XS0G-SN smoke detector is equipped with a sealed CR123A lithium battery designed to last for 10 years. The battery is not replaceable. When the battery is low, the detector will emit a chirp and the LED will flash to indicate it needs replacement. The entire unit must be replaced after 10 years from the activation date.
