3. Setup and Preparation

3.1 Installing the Lancet in the Lancing Device

  1. Unscrew the lancet adjustment head from the lancing device.
  2. Place a new blood collection needle (lancet) into the needle hub.
  3. Carefully screw off the lancet cap vertically. Do not move it left or right to prevent bending the needle.
  4. Rescrew the lancet adjustment head back onto the lancing device.
  5. Adjust the lancet depth by rotating the adjustment head. It is recommended to start with setting '2'. For thicker skin, you can switch to a higher number.
  6. Pull the lancing device handle backward until you hear a "click" sound. The device is now armed.

3.2 Test Strip and Instrument Preparation

  1. Ensure the device is powered off. Insert the code card into the code card slot on the side of the meter.
  2. Check that the calibration code displayed on the meter screen matches the code printed on the test strip box. This ensures accurate readings.
  3. Remove one test strip from its vial. Immediately close the vial cap tightly to protect remaining strips from moisture. (Note: Use pre-packaged test strips within 3 months of opening the vial).
  4. Insert the test strip into the test strip slot on the meter. Ensure the blood collection port on the strip is facing upwards and push the strip all the way down until it clicks into place.
  5. The meter will turn on automatically, and the screen will display a flashing blood drop symbol, indicating it is ready for blood collection.

4. Operating Instructions: Blood Hemoglobin Test

4.1 Blood Collection Steps

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water, then dry them completely.
  2. It is recommended to use the ring or middle fingers for blood collection.
  3. Place the tip of the lancing device firmly against the side of your fingertip. Using the sides of the fingers can help reduce pain.
  4. Press the eject button on the lancing device to prick your finger and collect blood.
  5. Gently press your fingertip to squeeze out a small amount of blood. Wipe off the first drop of blood with a clean tissue.
  6. Squeeze out a second drop of blood. This is the sample to be used for testing.

5. Important Considerations for Accurate Results

Before Use:

  • Ensure the test strips are not contaminated, damp, or expired.
  • Clean and dry your hands to ensure the blood won't be contaminated.

During Use:

  • Massage your finger for 10 seconds and lower your arm for 5 seconds before blood sample collection.
  • Avoid touching the contact bar and absorbent hole of the test strip.

Note:

Consecutive tests are unnecessary as each drop of blood differs, causing the test results to vary.

6. Troubleshooting

Why are the results of two consecutive measurements different?

Factors that affect accuracySolutions
Alcohol, dirt, or other substances on your skinWash (or use an alcohol pad), please dry your hands and the testing site thoroughly before pricking your skin.
Not enough blood was applied to the test stripMake sure you have enough amount of blood (10uL) for a test.
Wipe off tissue contains in your bloodWipe off the first drop of blood, and then collect a drop of blood on the test strip, making sure you have an adequate amount (10uL) for a reading.
Test strip problemsStore strips in their sealed container; keep them away from heat, moisture, and humidity.
Testing site locationIf you think the value is incorrect in the first test, please change your finger for the second test.
The interval between 2 same blood testsIf the 2 consecutive tests using the same blood are done within 5-10 sec, there is a slightly different in readings (within 15%). If 2 readings are very different, please check the operation or the above factors, and then test again.
