2. Safety Information
Always observe basic safety precautions when installing and operating this electrical equipment. Failure to do so could result in serious injury or death.
- Electrical Safety: Ensure the power source is 115 Volts and the circuit is protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). Do not operate the pump if the power cord is damaged.
- Water Safety: Never operate the pump dry. Ensure the pump is fully primed with water before starting. Do not allow children to operate this equipment.
- Pressure Safety: The filter operates under pressure. Do not attempt to open the filter or multi-port valve while the pump is running. Always turn off the pump and relieve pressure before servicing.
- Chemicals: Handle pool chemicals with care and follow manufacturer's instructions.

3.1. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps for proper assembly and installation:
- Positioning: Place the filter pump system on a firm, level surface, preferably concrete, and as close to the pool as possible. Ensure adequate drainage.
- Base Assembly: Securely attach the filter tank to the base support.
- Sand/Filter Media Loading: Remove the multi-port valve and internal components from the tank. Fill the tank with the recommended amount of filter sand (100 lbs) or filter balls (4.6 lbs). Ensure the standpipe is centered during filling.
- Multi-Port Valve Installation: Carefully place the 6-way multi-port valve onto the tank, ensuring the O-ring is properly seated. Secure it with the flange clamp.
- Pump Connection: Connect the pump to the multi-port valve using the provided hose and fittings. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks.
- Pool Connections: Connect the pump's suction port to the pool's skimmer or main drain line, and the multi-port valve's return port to the pool's return line.
- Electrical Connection: Connect the pump to a GFCI-protected electrical outlet.

4. Operating Instructions
The LANCHEZ sand filter pump features a 6-way multi-port valve and a programmable timer for efficient operation.
4.1. 6-Way Multi-Port Valve Functions
The valve allows for different operational modes. Always turn off the pump before changing valve positions.
- 1. FILTER: Normal filtration mode. Water flows through the sand bed, trapping debris, and returns to the pool.
- 2. BACKWASH: Reverses water flow through the filter to clean the sand bed. Water is directed to waste. Use when pressure gauge reads 8-10 PSI above starting pressure.
- 3. RINSE: Used after backwashing to flush out any remaining debris from the sand bed and settle the sand. Water is directed to waste.
- 4. WASTE: Bypasses the filter and sends water directly to waste. Useful for vacuuming heavy debris or lowering pool water level.
- 5. CLOSED: Shuts off all flow to the filter. Never operate the pump in this position.
- 6. RECIRCULATE: Bypasses the filter and circulates water directly back to the pool. Useful for chemical distribution without filtration.

4.2. Programmable Timer
The integrated 24-hour programmable timer allows for automated filtration cycles, saving energy and maintaining water circulation.
- Set Running Hours: Use the timer controls to set the desired daily operating duration for the pump.
- Activate Timer: Turn on the pump. The time at which the timer is activated becomes the daily start time for subsequent cycles.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your sand filter pump.
5.1. Backwashing and Rinsing
Perform backwashing and rinsing when the pressure gauge indicates a rise of 8-10 PSI above its clean operating pressure, or when pool water clarity decreases.
- Turn off the pump.
- Set the multi-port valve to 'BACKWASH'.
- Turn on the pump and backwash for 2-3 minutes, or until the water in the sight glass (if present) runs clear.
- Turn off the pump.
- Set the multi-port valve to 'RINSE'.
- Turn on the pump and rinse for 30-60 seconds.
- Turn off the pump.
- Set the multi-port valve back to 'FILTER' for normal operation.
5.2. Pre-Filter Basket Cleaning
The integrated pre-filter basket collects coarse debris like hair, leaves, and gravel, preventing them from reaching the pump impeller. Regularly inspect and clean the basket.
- Turn off the pump and disconnect power.
- Close any necessary valves to prevent water flow from the pool.
- Unscrew the see-through lid of the pre-filter housing.
- Remove the filter basket and empty any collected debris.
- Rinse the basket thoroughly with water.
- Inspect the O-ring on the lid for damage and ensure it is clean.
- Replace the basket and securely fasten the lid.
- Open valves and restore power to the pump.
