5. Setup & Installation
Before you begin: Ensure power is disconnected at the circuit breaker. Wear protective gloves provided.
5.1 Prepare the Unit
- Remove Duct Connector and Wire Cover: Locate the duct connector and wire cover on the fan housing. Unscrew and remove them to access the internal wiring.
- Access Wiring: The heating element, exhaust fan, and light have separate wiring connections. Familiarize yourself with the wiring diagram in the manual.
5.2 Mounting the Housing
- Prepare Ceiling Opening: Use the provided cut-out template to mark and cut the ceiling opening (17.13" x 11.02"). Ensure the opening is clear of obstructions and suitable for 2x6 ceiling construction.
- Install Mounting Bracket: Secure the mounting bracket to the ceiling joists using appropriate screws. The bracket is designed for secure installation.
- Place Fan Housing: Carefully insert the fan housing into the ceiling opening, ensuring it aligns with the mounting bracket.
- Secure Housing: Adjust the tabs on the fan housing to a vertical position and align them with the slots on the telescopic bracket. Bend the tabs to the side to firmly secure the housing.
5.3 Electrical Connections
- Connect Wires: Connect the house wiring to the fan's wiring. The black wire is for the exhaust fan, the blue wire is for the light (white receptacle), and the red wire is for the heater. Ensure all connections are secure and follow local electrical codes.
- Reattach Wire Cover: Once wiring is complete, reattach the wire cover with the short screw.
5.4 Ducting
- Connect Ventilation Duct: Attach a 4.5-inch ventilation duct (not included) to the duct connector on the fan housing. Secure it with the provided hose clamps and HVAC tape to ensure an airtight seal.
- Route Duct: Route the ventilation duct to an appropriate exterior vent. An insulated duct is recommended to prevent condensation.
5.5 Final Assembly
- Connect LED Wires: Connect the LED and Bluetooth wires from the panel to the corresponding plugs in the fan housing.
- Install Light Panel: Squeeze both sides of the panel spring and insert it into the spring rails in the fan housing. Push the panel up until it sits flush with the ceiling.
