1. Introduction

The DUSKTEC Smart Recessed Lighting system provides advanced lighting solutions for your home. These 6-inch RGBCW LED recessed ceiling lights offer a wide range of colors, adjustable brightness, and color temperature, all controllable via voice commands through Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant, or directly through the BRmesh mobile application. Utilizing Bluetooth Mesh technology, these lights ensure a stable and responsive connection without requiring a separate hub or internet connection for basic operation.

2. Safety Information

Please read all safety instructions before installing or using this product. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or other hazards.

• Electrical Safety: Always turn off power at the circuit breaker before installation, removal, or maintenance. Ensure all wiring connections are secure and comply with local electrical codes.
• Qualified Personnel: Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or a person with a thorough understanding of electrical wiring.
• Indoor Use Only: This product is designed for indoor use in dry and damp locations. Do not expose to direct water spray or submersion.

The DUSKTEC Smart Recessed Lighting is designed for easy installation in narrow ceilings and tight spaces. Follow these steps for proper setup:

1. Prepare the Installation Area:
   • Turn off power at the circuit breaker before beginning any electrical work.
   • Cut a hole in the ceiling with a diameter of 5.6" to 6.7" (14.2cm to 17cm). The recommended hole depth is 1.65" (4.2cm).
2. Connect Wiring to Junction Box:
   • Open the junction box cover.
   • Connect the household wiring (Live, Neutral, Ground) to the corresponding wires inside the junction box using the provided wire connectors. Ensure connections are secure.

3. Mount the Junction Box:
   • Insert the wired junction box into the ceiling hole.
4. Connect the Light Fixture:
   • Connect the male connector from the light fixture to the female connector from the junction box. Ensure a secure connection.

5. Secure the Light Fixture:
   • Push the spring clips on the light fixture upwards and insert the fixture into the ceiling hole. The clips will secure the light in place.
6. Restore Power:
   • Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.

6. Operating Instructions

Your DUSKTEC Smart Recessed Lighting can be controlled via the BRmesh app or through voice assistants.

6.1. BRmesh App Control

1. Download the App: Search for "BRmesh" in your smartphone's app store (iOS or Android) and install it.
2. Pairing the Lights:
   • Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone.
   • Open the BRmesh app. The app will automatically scan for nearby DUSKTEC lights.
   • If lights are not found, power cycle the lights (turn off and on) to put them in pairing mode. The lights will flash to indicate they are discoverable.
   • Select the discovered lights in the app to add them.
3. Adjusting Color and Brightness:
   • From the main control interface, you can select from 16 million colors using the color wheel.
   • Adjust the brightness from 1% to 100% using the slider.
   • Change the color temperature from warm white (2700K) to cool daylight (6000K).

4. Scene Modes:
   • The app offers various preset scene modes (e.g., Night, Reading, Work, Leisure, Relax, Dance Party) to instantly change the ambiance.
   • You can also create and customize your own scene modes.

5. Group Control:
   • Organize your lights into groups (e.g., "Living Room," "Bedroom," "Kitchen") within the app.
   • Control all lights in a group simultaneously with a single command or tap.

6. Music Sync:
   • Activate the music sync mode in the BRmesh app to make your lights change color and rhythm with your music.

7. Timer Function:
   • Set schedules for your lights to automatically turn on or off at specific times.

6.2. Voice Control (Alexa, Siri, Google Assistant)

1. Connecting to Alexa:
   • Open the Alexa app and say, "Alexa, discover devices."
   • Once discovered, you can control your lights with commands like "Alexa, turn on the living room lights" or "Alexa, set bedroom lights to blue."
   • For grouped lights, if one light is paired as a "hub" with Alexa, other lights in the same BRmesh group will follow its commands.

2. Connecting to Siri:
   • In the BRmesh app, navigate to "More" settings and select "Add to Siri."

3. Connecting to Google Assistant:
   • Ensure your lights are paired with the BRmesh app.
   • Open the Google Home app, tap the '+' icon, then 'Set up device' > 'Works with Google'.
   • Search for and link the BRmesh service.
   • You can then use commands like "Hey Google, open BRmesh and turn on the lights."

7. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your DUSKTEC Smart Recessed Lighting, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:

• Cleaning: Disconnect power before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the surface of the light fixture. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals that could damage the finish or electrical components.
• Inspection: Periodically inspect the lights for any signs of damage, loose connections, or unusual operation. If any issues are found, turn off power and consult a qualified electrician.
• Software Updates: Keep the BRmesh app updated to the latest version to ensure compatibility and access to new features or bug fixes.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your DUSKTEC Smart Recessed Lighting, try the following solutions:

• Light Not Turning On:
  • Check the circuit breaker to ensure power is supplied to the fixture.
  • Verify all wiring connections in the junction box are secure.
  • Ensure the light fixture is properly connected to the junction box.
• Lights Not Responding to App/Voice Control:
  • Confirm Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone.
  • Ensure the lights are within Bluetooth range of your smartphone or the designated "hub" light for voice assistant control.
  • Power cycle the lights (turn off and on at the wall switch) to reset them and re-enter pairing mode.
  • Check if the BRmesh app is updated to the latest version.
  • For voice assistants, ensure the BRmesh skill/service is linked correctly in the respective app (Alexa, Google Home).
• Lights Flickering or Unstable:
  • Ensure the lights are not connected to an external dimmer switch, as this can cause flickering.
  • Check for loose wiring connections.
  • Verify the power supply is stable.
• Difficulty with Group Control:
  • Ensure all lights intended for a group are successfully paired with the BRmesh app.
  • Re-create the group in the app if necessary.
