  • Ensure the circuit breaker for the heater circuit is OFF before beginning any installation work.
  • Confirm you have the necessary tools and materials, including appropriate wiring and connectors.

4.2 Mounting Instructions

The heater is designed for wall mounting. It should be installed at least 3 feet (0.9 m) from combustible materials.

  • Connect the heater's wiring to the dedicated 240V circuit according to local electrical codes.
  • Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated.
  • After wiring, replace the front panel. The two-click removable front panel provides quick access for maintenance and installation.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Initial Power-Up

  • Once installation is complete and all connections are secure, turn the power back ON at the main electrical panel.
  • The heater may emit a slight odor during its first few hours of operation as manufacturing residues burn off. This is normal and will dissipate.

5.2 Thermostat Control

This heater does not include an integrated thermostat. You have two primary options for controlling the heater's temperature:

  • Wall-Mounted Thermostat: Connect the heater to a compatible wall-mounted thermostat (sold separately) for room temperature control. This is the most common method.
  • Optional Built-in Thermostat Kit: An optional built-in electronic thermostat kit (Stelpro model SIBTE12F, sold separately) can be installed directly into the heater for on-unit temperature adjustment.

Refer to the thermostat's instruction manual for specific operating procedures.

6. Maintenance

WARNING: Disconnect power at the main electrical panel before performing any maintenance or cleaning.

6.1 Cleaning

  • The heater's clean housing and detachable front panel simplify cleaning.
  • To clean the exterior, use a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or chemical solvents, as these can damage the finish.
  • For internal cleaning, carefully remove the front panel. Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to remove dust and debris from the heating element and fins.

6.2 Inspection

  • Periodically inspect the heater for any signs of damage, loose connections, or unusual wear.
  • Ensure that the air intake and exhaust grilles are not blocked by dust or other obstructions. The narrow grille spacing (6 mm or 1/4 inch) is designed to restrict access to the elements for safety.

7. Troubleshooting

If your heater is not operating correctly, consult the following table for common issues and solutions. If the problem persists, contact a qualified electrician or Stelpro customer support.

ProblemPossible Cause & Solution
Heater does not turn on.
  • No power: Check the circuit breaker at your main electrical panel. Ensure it is in the ON position.
  • Incorrect wiring: Verify that the heater is correctly hardwired to a 240V supply. Consult a qualified electrician.
  • Thermostat setting: Ensure the external or optional built-in thermostat is set to a temperature higher than the ambient room temperature.
Heater produces insufficient heat.
  • Room size: The heater is designed for rooms up to 100 sq. ft. For larger rooms, multiple heaters or a higher wattage unit may be required.
  • Thermostat setting: Adjust the thermostat to a higher setting.
  • Airflow obstruction: Ensure no furniture, curtains, or other objects are blocking the air intake or exhaust grilles.
Heater cycles on and off too frequently.
  • Thermostat placement: If using a wall-mounted thermostat, ensure it is not located near a draft or another heat source.
  • Overheating protection: The heater has full-length thermal protection. If it overheats, it will temporarily shut off. Check for obstructions or excessive dust.
Unusual odors during operation.
  • First use: A slight odor is normal during the initial hours of operation as manufacturing residues burn off. Ensure adequate ventilation.
  • Dust accumulation: Dust on the heating element can cause odors. Disconnect power and clean the heater as described in the Maintenance section.
