1. Introduction

The Insta360 GPS Preview Remote is a versatile accessory designed to enhance your camera control and data logging experience with Insta360 X4, Ace, and Ace Pro cameras. This remote features a capacitive touchscreen for adjusting camera settings and live preview, integrated GNSS for precise GPS data, and robust construction for various environments.

3. Important Safety Guidelines

To ensure safe and optimal use of your GPS Preview Remote, please adhere to the following guidelines:

• Magnets Warning: This product contains magnets. Keep it away from pacemakers and other medical devices to prevent interference.
• Operating Temperature: Use the product only within temperatures ranging from -20°C to 40°C (-4°F to 104°F).
• Battery Care: If the product is not used for an extended period (e.g., two months or more), the battery may discharge. Fully charge the product before turning it on after long storage.

4. Setup

4.1 Charging the Remote

4.2 Pairing with Your Insta360 Camera

1. Ensure your Insta360 camera (X4, Ace, or Ace Pro) is powered on and in pairing mode (refer to your camera's manual for specific instructions).
2. Power on the GPS Preview Remote.
3. On the remote's touchscreen, navigate to the Bluetooth pairing menu.
4. Select your Insta360 camera from the list of available devices to establish a connection.

4.3 Attaching the Remote

The remote can be attached using either the universal strap or the wrist strap, depending on your activity and preference.

• Wrist Strap: Ideal for wearing the remote on your wrist for quick access.
• Universal Strap: Suitable for mounting the remote on handlebars, selfie sticks, or other equipment.

5. Operating the GPS Preview Remote

5.1 Power On/Off

Press and hold the power button located on the side of the remote to turn it on or off.

5.2 Using the Touchscreen

The remote features a responsive capacitive touchscreen. Swipe to navigate menus, tap to select options, and adjust camera settings directly from the remote.

5.3 Remote Control Functions

Once paired, you can remotely control your Insta360 camera to:

• Start and stop recording.
• Take photos.
• Adjust shooting modes and parameters.
• Power on the camera remotely even when it's off.

5.4 Live Preview

The remote provides a live preview of your camera's footage, allowing you to frame your shots perfectly. The preview range is up to 8 meters in an open, interference-free environment.

5.5 GPS Data Integration

The built-in GNSS system (GPS, BeiDou, Galileo, GLONASS) records accurate location, route, and speed data. This data can be added as dashboard overlays to your videos using the Insta360 app or Studio software.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

Wipe the remote with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners, especially on the charging contacts, as this can cause corrosion.

6.2 Storage

Store the remote in a cool, dry place, away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. For long-term storage, ensure the battery is partially charged and recharge it periodically (e.g., every two months) to prevent deep discharge.

6.3 Water Usage

While the remote is waterproof up to 1.5m, it is recommended to use the disposable double-sided adhesive tape to secure it to the strap when using it near or in water for enhanced safety and to prevent accidental detachment.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1 Remote Not Turning On

• Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the remote to a power source using the charging cable.
• If stored for a long time, the battery might be deeply discharged. Charge it for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on.

7.2 Unable to Pair with Camera

• Confirm both the remote and camera are in pairing mode.
• Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both devices.
• Move the remote closer to the camera.
• Restart both the remote and the camera, then attempt pairing again.
• Check for any firmware updates for both the remote and your camera.

7.3 Live Preview Not Working or Lagging

• Ensure the remote is within the 8-meter preview range of the camera.
• Minimize obstacles between the remote and the camera.
• Avoid areas with strong wireless interference.
• Check the camera's settings to ensure live preview is enabled.

7.4 Inaccurate GPS Data

• Ensure the remote has a clear line of sight to the sky for optimal satellite reception.
• Avoid using the remote indoors or in areas with dense foliage or tall buildings.
• Allow sufficient time for the remote to acquire a GPS signal after powering on.
