4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Reclining Function (Manual)
This is a manual recliner. The reclining mechanism is activated by a side handle and your body weight.
- To Recline: Locate the pull ring/handle at the side of the cushion (typically on the right side when seated). Pull the handle to release the footrest. Lean back gently, placing your elbows on the armrests, and the chair will recline freely as you lean back. The backrest angle adjusts based on your weight, up to 150°.
- To Return Upright: Lean forward and push the footrest down with your legs until it locks into place. The backrest will return to its upright (90°) position. Note: The recline angle is not lockable and will return to 90° when you get up from the chair.

Figure 4.1: Recline Function. This image illustrates the different recline angles (90° for reading, 120° for watching TV, and 150° for napping) and shows the exterior snap handle used to open the recliner.

Figure 4.2: Manual Foot Pedal Closure. This diagram demonstrates that closing the footrest requires force on the legs. It also advises standing up only after the pedals are fully closed. This manual recliner is not suitable for the elderly, pregnant women, disabled, or leg-impaired individuals due to the force required to close the footrest.
4.2. Using Cup Holders and Storage Pockets
- Hidden Cup Holders: The recliner features two hidden cup holders, one on each side. To access, gently push the armrest panel outwards. Place your beverage securely in the holder. Push the panel back to conceal the holder when not in use.
- Side Pockets: Use the side pockets located on the exterior of the armrests to store magazines, remote controls, or other small items.

Figure 4.3: Rear View of Recliner. This image shows the back of the recliner, illustrating its solid construction and how the backrest integrates with the main frame.
5. Care and Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life and appearance of your recliner.
- Cleaning: Wipe clean with a damp cloth. For spills, blot immediately with a clean, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- General Care: Regularly vacuum the fabric to remove dust and debris.
- Mechanism: The all-metal body is designed for durability. Avoid forcing the reclining mechanism. If it feels stiff, check for obstructions. Do not lubricate unless specified by the manufacturer.
- Lumbar Pillow: The lumbar cushion is removable for cleaning or adjustment.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your recliner, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Footrest is difficult to close. | Requires significant leg force to retract. | This is a characteristic of the manual mechanism. Ensure you apply firm, consistent pressure with your legs to push the footrest back into place. Stand up only after the footrest is fully closed. This model is not recommended for individuals with limited leg strength. |
| Chair feels unstable or tips forward. | Improper weight distribution; not designed for certain movements while reclined. | Avoid sudden movements or shifting weight excessively while reclined, especially if a child or pet attempts to climb onto your lap. Ensure the chair is on a flat, stable surface. |
| Backrest does not stay reclined. | Manual recline mechanism is not lockable. | This is normal operation. The backrest angle is not lockable and will return to 90° when you get up from the chair. It relies on your body weight to maintain the reclined position. |
| Fabric bunches up or feels uncomfortable. | Fabric friction with clothing; cushion settling. | Adjust your position to smooth out the fabric. The spring-loaded cushion is designed to resist collapse, but some settling is normal over time. |
