Operating Instructions

Power On/Off

Press the Power button once to turn the device on. To turn it off, press and hold the Power button for approximately 2 seconds until the display shuts down.

Basic Measurement

  1. Turn on the device using the Power button.
  2. Position the light sensor (the spherical dome) towards the light source you wish to measure. Ensure no shadows or obstructions block the sensor.
  3. The current illuminance reading will be displayed on the LCD in the selected unit (Lux or FC).

Mode Selection (LUX/FC)

Press the MODE button to switch between Lux and Foot-Candle (FC) units. The selected unit will be indicated on the LCD.

Range Selection

The device typically operates in auto-ranging mode, automatically selecting the most appropriate measurement range. To manually select a range, press the RANGE button. Repeated presses will cycle through available ranges. To return to auto-ranging, press and hold the RANGE button (or as indicated by the device's specific functionality).

Maintenance

Cleaning

Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the casing or display. Keep the light sensor clean and free of dust, fingerprints, or smudges, which can affect measurement accuracy.

Storage

Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity. If storing for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent potential leakage and damage to the device.

Troubleshooting

  • No Display/Device Not Turning On:
Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted. Replace with fresh batteries if necessary. Ensure the battery compartment is closed correctly.
  • Inaccurate Readings:
Ensure the light sensor is clean and unobstructed. Verify that the correct measurement unit (Lux/FC) is selected. Check if the device is in auto-ranging mode or if a suitable manual range is selected.
  • "OL" or Overload Indicator:
This indicates that the measured light intensity exceeds the current measurement range. If in manual range, switch to a higher range. If in auto-ranging, move the sensor further from the light source.
  • Display Flickering or Unstable:
Low battery power can cause unstable readings. Replace batteries. Ensure the device is not exposed to strong electromagnetic interference.
