4. Setup and First Use

4.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove the ice maker from its packaging. Remove all packing materials, tape, and labels. It is recommended to keep the original packaging for future storage or transport.

4.2 Placement

Place the ice maker on a flat, stable, and heat-resistant surface. Ensure there is at least 6 inches (15 cm) of space around the unit for proper ventilation. Avoid placing it near heat sources or in direct sunlight.

4.3 Initial Cleaning

Before first use, clean the interior of the ice maker. Follow these steps:

  1. Remove the ice basket.
  2. Clean the interior with a soft cloth and warm water with a mild detergent.
  3. Rinse thoroughly and drain any remaining water.
  4. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth.

4.4 First Ice Making Cycle

For the first few cycles, the ice may be smaller or irregular. This is normal. Discard the first 3-5 batches of ice to ensure the system is fully purged and clean.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Adding Water

Open the lid and fill the water reservoir with potable water up to the MAX fill line. Do not overfill.

5.2 Powering On and Selecting Ice Size

Plug the ice maker into a grounded electrical outlet. The indicator lights will illuminate.

Press the "ON/OFF" button to start the ice making process. The default ice size is usually small. To change the ice size:

  • Press the "SELECT" button (or corresponding button for size selection) to toggle between small and large ice cubes.
  • The selected size indicator light will illuminate.

5.3 Ice Production

The ice maker will begin producing ice. The first batch typically takes 6-10 minutes, with subsequent batches being faster. The transparent window allows you to observe the ice-making process.

5.4 Indicator Lights

  • ADD WATER: This light illuminates when the water reservoir is low. Add more water to continue ice production.
  • ICE FULL: This light illuminates when the ice basket is full. Remove ice from the basket to resume production.

5.5 Stopping Operation

Press the "ON/OFF" button to stop the ice making process at any time. Unplug the unit when not in use.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

6.1 Self-Cleaning Function

The FOHERE ice maker features a convenient self-cleaning function:

  1. Ensure the water reservoir is filled with clean water.
  2. Press and hold the "ON/OFF" button for approximately 5 seconds until the self-cleaning indicator light (if available) or a specific sound indicates the start of the cycle.
  3. The self-cleaning cycle typically runs for about 15 minutes.
  4. Once complete, drain the water from the unit by removing the drain plug (usually located at the bottom or side).
  5. Wipe the interior dry with a clean cloth.

6.2 Regular Cleaning

For optimal performance and hygiene, regular manual cleaning is recommended:

  • Unplug the ice maker before cleaning.
  • Remove the ice basket and clean it with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
  • Clean the interior water tank and ice collection area with a soft cloth and a solution of water and white vinegar (1:1 ratio) to prevent mineral buildup.
