1. Introduction
This manual provides instructions for the proper installation, use, and maintenance of your Vacmaster Fine Dust Cartridge Filter. This filter is designed for dry pickup applications with compatible 2.5-gallon wet/dry vacuums, effectively capturing fine dust particles.
2. Compatibility
The Vacmaster Fine Dust Cartridge Filter is compatible with the following 2.5-gallon wet/dry vacuum models:
- Vacmaster Models: VJ206F, VJ206H, VOM305M, VOM307WM
- Armor All Models: AA255, AA255W, AA256
Ensure your vacuum model is listed above for proper fit and performance.
3. Installation (Setup)
Follow these steps to properly install the fine dust cartridge filter:
- Prepare the Vacuum: Ensure the vacuum is unplugged from the power source before beginning installation. Remove the power head from the collection tank.
- Remove Old Filter (if applicable): If a filter is already installed, carefully remove it. Dispose of the old filter according to local regulations.
- Position the New Filter: Slide the new fine dust cartridge filter over the filter cage on the motor housing. Ensure the rubber gasket on the filter base creates a tight seal against the vacuum's motor housing.
- Secure the Filter: Place the filter retainer (if your model uses one) over the filter and twist or secure it into place to hold the filter firmly against the motor housing. Do not overtighten.
- Reassemble: Replace the power head onto the collection tank, ensuring it is securely latched.

4. Operating Guidelines
This fine dust cartridge filter is specifically designed for dry pickup only. Using this filter for wet pickup will damage the filter and may impair vacuum performance. For wet pickup, a foam sleeve filter (sold separately) is typically required.
Regularly check the filter for excessive dust buildup. A clogged filter can reduce suction power and motor efficiency.
5. Maintenance
Proper maintenance extends the life of your filter and ensures optimal vacuum performance.
Cleaning the Filter
For light dust, the filter can be cleaned by gently tapping it against the inside of a trash receptacle to dislodge debris. For heavier dust, you may use a soft brush or compressed air to clean the pleats. Do not wash this filter with water, as it is designed for dry use and water can damage the filter material.
Filter Replacement
The filter should be replaced when it becomes heavily soiled, damaged, or when suction performance significantly decreases even after cleaning. The frequency of replacement depends on usage and the type of debris collected.
6. Troubleshooting
- Reduced Suction:
- Check if the filter is clogged with dust. Clean or replace the filter as needed.
- Ensure the filter is properly seated and sealed against the motor housing.
- Verify there are no blockages in the hose or attachments.
- Dust Escaping from Exhaust:
- Ensure the filter is correctly installed and sealed.
- Inspect the filter for tears or damage. Replace if damaged.
