Setup

Before using your Valeton GP-5, ensure it is properly connected to your power supply and audio equipment.

Power Connection

Connect a 9V DC power adapter (center negative) to the 9V DC input jack on the top of the unit. Ensure the power supply meets the specified voltage and polarity requirements to prevent damage.

Audio Connections

  • Input (IN): Connect your guitar or other instrument to the 1/4-inch input jack on the right side of the unit.
  • Output (OUT/PHONES): Connect this 1/4-inch jack to your amplifier, audio interface, or headphones. This jack serves as both the main output and a headphone output.

USB Connection

The USB-C port on the top of the unit allows for connection to a computer (Mac/PC) or mobile device (iOS/Android) for use as an audio interface, firmware updates, and patch management via the dedicated software/app.

Operating the Valeton GP-5

The GP-5 features intuitive controls for navigating presets, adjusting parameters, and engaging effects.

Controls Overview

  • VOL Knob: Controls the overall output volume of the unit.
  • PARA Knob: Used for navigating menus, selecting options, and adjusting parameters on the LCD screen.
  • Footswitch: The multi-function footswitch with an LED ring can be configured for various operations including patch switching, stompbox mode, tuner, and bypass.
  • LCD Screen: Displays patch numbers, effect names, parameter values, and menu navigation.

Patch Management

The GP-5 offers 100 patch slots (50 factory, 50 user). Use the PARA knob to scroll through patches. Press the footswitch to engage or bypass the selected patch, depending on the footswitch mode.

SnapTone Technology and IR Loader

The GP-5 supports loading Neural Amp Modeler (NAM) files via SnapTone technology and third-party Impulse Responses (IRs). These can be managed and loaded using the dedicated software/app connected via USB.

Bluetooth Connectivity

Pair your mobile device with the GP-5 via Bluetooth to stream backing tracks for practice or jam sessions. Refer to your device's Bluetooth settings for pairing instructions.

USB Audio Interface Functionality

Connect the GP-5 to your computer via USB-C to use it as an audio interface for direct recording or re-amping. Ensure your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) recognizes the GP-5 as an audio input/output device.

Maintenance
