1. Introduction

Welcome to the CMF BY NOTHING Buds 2a user manual. These earbuds are designed to deliver a premium audio experience with advanced features. This manual will guide you through the setup, operation, and maintenance of your new earbuds.

3. Setup

3.1 Charging the Earbuds and Case

Before first use, fully charge the earbuds and the charging case. Connect the charging case to a power source using a compatible USB-C cable (not included). The indicator light on the case will show charging status.

• A 10-minute fast charge provides approximately 5.5 hours of playback.
• Full charge of earbuds: 70 minutes.
• Full charge of carrying case: 70 minutes.

3.2 Pairing with Your Device

1. Ensure the earbuds are in the charging case and the case lid is open.
2. Press and hold the function button on the charging case until the indicator light flashes white, indicating pairing mode.
3. On your device (smartphone, tablet, laptop), enable Bluetooth and search for "CMF Buds 2a" in the list of available devices.
4. Select "CMF Buds 2a" to connect. The indicator light will turn solid white when connected.

3.3 Nothing X App Installation

For full control and customization of your CMF Buds 2a, download the Nothing X app from your device's app store. The app allows you to:

• Customize Equalizer settings.
• Switch on Ultra Bass.
• Enable Low Lag Mode.
• Customize touch controls.
• Manage dual device connections.
• Access ChatGPT integration (where available).

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Touch Controls

The CMF Buds 2a feature intuitive touch controls on each earbud. Default controls typically include:

• Single Tap: Play/Pause music, Answer/End call.
• Double Tap: Skip to next track, Reject call.
• Triple Tap: Skip to previous track.
• Press and Hold: Switch between Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Transparency Mode.
• Voice Control: Activate voice assistant (Google Assistant, Siri) via customizable controls in the Nothing X app.

Refer to the Nothing X app for detailed customization of touch gestures.

4.2 Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Transparency Mode

The earbuds offer 42 dB Active Noise Cancellation to reduce ambient noise. Transparency Mode allows you to hear your surroundings without removing the earbuds.

• Toggle between ANC, Transparency Mode, and Noise Cancellation Off using the touch controls or the Nothing X app.

4.3 Ultra Bass Technology

Experience enhanced bass with the Ultra Bass Technology 2.0, powered by 12.4mm Dirac-Tuned Drivers. This feature can be adjusted or enabled through the Nothing X app for a personalized audio experience.

4.4 Multipoint Connectivity

The CMF Buds 2a support Bluetooth 5.4 with multipoint connectivity, allowing you to connect to two devices simultaneously and seamlessly switch between them.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

• Regularly clean the earbuds and charging case with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
• Remove ear tips and clean them with mild soap and water, then dry thoroughly before reattaching.
• Gently clean the charging contacts on both the earbuds and the case with a dry cotton swab.

5.2 Storage

• Store the earbuds in their charging case when not in use to protect them and keep them charged.
• Avoid storing in extreme temperatures or high humidity.

5.3 Water Resistance (IPX4)

The earbuds are IPX4 water resistant, meaning they are protected from splashing water from any direction. They are suitable for workouts and daily use but are not designed for swimming or showering. Do not submerge the earbuds in water.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Connectivity Issues

• Earbuds not pairing: Ensure earbuds are charged. Place them in the case, close the lid, then open and try pairing again. Check if the device's Bluetooth is on.
• Only one earbud working: Place both earbuds back in the case, close the lid for 5 seconds, then open. Check battery levels in the Nothing X app.
• Frequent disconnections: Ensure no strong interference sources nearby. Keep the earbuds within the 10-meter Bluetooth range.

6.2 Audio Issues

• No sound: Check volume levels on both the earbuds and your connected device. Ensure earbuds are properly connected.
• Low volume: Clean ear tips and earbud grilles to remove any debris. Adjust volume on your device.
• Poor sound quality: Ensure ear tips provide a good seal. Try different sized ear tips. Check audio settings in the Nothing X app.

6.3 Charging Issues

• Earbuds not charging: Ensure charging contacts on both earbuds and case are clean and dry. Try a different USB-C cable and power adapter.
• Case not charging: Verify the charging cable and adapter are working. Check the charging port for any obstructions.
