3. Setup Instructions

  1. Prepare Filter Media: Open the filter unit. Place the provided bio filter media (carbon balls) into the bottom compartment. Then, insert the high-density filter sponge on top of the bio media.
  2. Assemble Output: Choose your desired water outlet. Attach either the spray bar for gentle, widespread flow or the flat outlet with the air tube for focused flow and aeration.
  3. Attach Suction Cups: Secure the suction cups to the back of the filter unit. Ensure they are firmly attached for stable mounting.
  4. Position in Aquarium: Submerge the filter unit in your aquarium. Use the suction cups to firmly attach it to the inner wall of the tank. Ensure the water level in the tank is above the "lowest water level" indicator on the filter for proper operation. The chosen water outlet should be positioned as desired (e.g., spray bar just below the surface for gentle flow, or flat outlet with air tube above the surface for aeration).
  5. Connect Power: Plug the filter into a suitable power outlet.

4. Operating Instructions

Once installed and powered on, the filter will begin operating. You can adjust its performance based on your aquarium's needs.

  • Adjusting Water Flow: The filter features an adjustable water flow rate. Locate the flow adjustment switch on the side of the unit and slide it to increase or decrease the water output.
  • Adjusting Air Output (with air tube): If using the flat outlet with the air tube, you can adjust the air volume by rotating the small knob on the air tube connector.
  • Water Level: Always ensure the water level in your tank remains above the minimum indicator line on the filter to prevent dry running and damage to the pump.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of your AQQA Aquarium Filter.

  1. Filter Media Cleaning: The high-density filter sponge should be rinsed every 10-15 days, or more frequently if water clarity deteriorates. Use old aquarium water to rinse the sponge to preserve beneficial bacteria.
  2. Bio Media Replacement: The bio filter media (carbon balls) generally lasts longer but should be replaced every 3-6 months, or as needed, to maintain effective biological filtration.
  3. Impeller Cleaning: Periodically check and clean the pump's impeller to ensure smooth operation and prevent blockages.
  4. General Cleaning: Disconnect power before performing any maintenance. Clean the filter housing and attachments as needed to remove algae or debris buildup.
