Operating Instructions

Switching Between Computers

The KVM switch offers two methods for switching between connected computers:

  • Front Panel Button: Press the "SELECT" button on the front panel of the KVM switch to cycle between Computer 1 (Laptop) and Computer 2 (Desktop PC). The LED indicator will show which computer is currently active.

Display Modes (Windows)

For Windows operating systems, you can select different display modes by pressing "Windows + P". Options include:

  • Duplicate (Mirror Mode): Displays the same content on both monitors.
  • Extend (Extended Screen Mode): Extends your desktop across both monitors, providing more screen space.
  • Second screen only: Displays content only on the external monitors.

USB-C MST Function

When connecting a laptop via the USB-C port, the KVM switch utilizes Multi-Stream Transport (MST) to expand to two different HDMI displays. Ensure your laptop's USB-C port is a full-function port and supports extended display capabilities.

Power Delivery (PD)

The KVM switch's USB-C PD port can charge your connected laptop with up to 60W of power. Connect your laptop's Type-C charging cable to the KVM switch's PD port to utilize this feature.

USB 3.0 Data Transfer

The KVM switch features USB 3.0 ports that support data transfer speeds up to 5Gbps, ensuring fast and efficient operation for connected peripherals like keyboards, mice, and storage devices. It is backward compatible with USB 2.0/1.1 devices.

Maintenance

The KVM switch is designed for reliable operation with minimal maintenance. Keep the device in a clean, dry environment. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or humidity. Do not attempt to open the casing or repair the device yourself, as this will void the warranty.

To clean the device, use a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.

Troubleshooting

  • No Display or Flickering Screen:
    • Ensure all HDMI and DisplayPort cables are securely connected.
    • Verify that the KVM switch is powered on and the correct input is selected.
    • Check if your monitors and graphics cards support the selected resolution and refresh rate (e.g., 4K@60Hz).
    • Using high-quality, shorter HDMI/DP cables (e.g., 8K certified cables) can help resolve flickering or black screen issues, especially at higher resolutions.
    • For laptops, ensure the USB-C port is a full-function port supporting video output.
  • Keyboard/Mouse Not Working:
    • Ensure the USB 3.0 cable from your desktop PC is connected to the KVM switch's USB3.0 input.
    • For laptops, ensure the USB-C cable is properly connected and supports data transfer.
    • Try connecting the keyboard/mouse directly to the computer to confirm they are functional.
    • Reconnect the USB peripherals to the KVM switch.
  • Laptop Not Charging:
    • Ensure your laptop's Type-C charging cable is connected to the KVM switch's PD port.
    • Verify that your laptop's USB-C port supports Power Delivery.
    • The KVM switch provides up to 60W. If your laptop requires higher wattage, it may charge slower or display a warning.
  • Mac OS Laptop Outputs Identical Screens:
    • Mac OS typically does not support Multi-Stream Transport (MST) for extending displays via a single USB-C connection to multiple external monitors. Therefore, Mac OS laptops will usually output two identical screens (mirror mode) when connected to this KVM switch. This is a limitation of Mac OS, not the KVM switch.
