6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

To power on the device, slide the ON/OFF switch to the 'ON' position. The laser lines will activate, and the device will begin self-leveling. To power off, slide the switch to the 'OFF' position.

6.2 Self-Leveling Mode

When powered on, the device automatically enters self-leveling mode. If the device is placed on an uneven surface beyond its ±1° self-leveling range, the laser lines will flash rapidly, and an audible alarm may sound, indicating that the device needs to be adjusted to a more level position.

6.3 Manual Mode (Slope Function)

To use the device in manual mode for projecting lines at an angle, first ensure the device is powered off. Then, slide the ON/OFF switch to the 'ON' position while holding down the 'H' or 'V' button (refer to device diagram for exact button). This will disable the self-leveling function, allowing you to tilt the device to project sloped lines. The laser lines may flash slowly in this mode to indicate that it is not self-leveling.

6.4 Horizontal and Vertical Line Selection

Press the 'H' button on the device or remote control to cycle through horizontal laser line configurations (e.g., one horizontal line, multiple horizontal lines, or off). Press the 'V' button to cycle through vertical laser line configurations.

6.5 Pulse Mode

Activate pulse mode by pressing the dedicated pulse mode button (refer to device diagram). This mode is useful for outdoor applications or when using a laser detector to extend the working range. The laser beam will appear dimmer to the naked eye in pulse mode but is optimized for detection by a receiver.

6.6 Remote Control Usage

The included remote control allows for convenient operation of the laser level from a distance. It typically includes buttons for:

  • Horizontal Line Switch: Activates/deactivates horizontal lines.
  • Vertical Line Switch: Activates/deactivates vertical lines.
  • Indoor/Outdoor Switch: May toggle pulse mode or adjust laser intensity for different environments.

7. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your laser level.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the laser apertures are clean and free of dust.
  • Storage: Store the device in its BMC box in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods.
  • Calibration: While the device is self-calibrating within its range, periodic professional calibration may be required for critical applications to ensure continued accuracy.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your iBELL LL5-16, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
