2. Setup

2.1. What's in the Box

  • Corded handset/base unit/cord (1)
  • Cordless handset & charging base (2)

2.2. Initial Installation

  1. Connect the Base Unit: Plug the AC adapter into the base unit and a power outlet. Connect the telephone line cord to the base unit and a telephone wall jack.
  2. Install Batteries in Cordless Handsets: Open the battery compartment on each cordless handset. Insert the provided AAA rechargeable batteries, observing polarity. Close the battery compartment.
  3. Charge Cordless Handsets: Place each cordless handset on its respective charging base. Ensure the charge indicator illuminates. Allow at least 7 hours for a full charge before initial use.
  4. Set Date and Time: Follow the on-screen prompts on the base unit or cordless handset to set the current date and time. This is crucial for the answering system and caller ID functions.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1. Making and Receiving Calls

  • To Make a Call: Lift the corded handset or press the TALK button on a cordless handset. Dial the number.
  • To Receive a Call: Lift the corded handset or press the TALK button on a cordless handset when the phone rings.
  • Speakerphone: Press the SP-PHONE button during a call to activate the speakerphone.

3.2. Link2Cell Bluetooth Connectivity

The Link2Cell feature allows you to connect up to two smartphones via Bluetooth to make and receive mobile calls through your Panasonic phone system.

  1. Pairing a Smartphone:
    • On the base unit or a cordless handset, navigate to the Bluetooth menu.
    • Select "Pair Handset" or "Add Cell."
    • Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone and search for available devices.
    • Select the Panasonic phone system (e.g., "KX-TGF882B") from your smartphone's Bluetooth list.
    • Enter the PIN (usually "0000") if prompted.
    • Once paired, your smartphone's calls can be routed through the Panasonic system.
  2. Making/Receiving Cell Calls: When a smartphone is paired, you can select to make a call via the cell line or answer incoming cell calls directly from any handset.

3.3. Smart Call Blocker

The Smart Call Blocker helps reduce unwanted calls by screening unknown numbers.

  • Automated Call Block: The system can automatically pre-block robocalls.
  • Telemarketing Call Block: Allows you to block announced callers.
  • One-Touch Call Block: Press the dedicated CALL BLOCK button on the base unit or handset during an unwanted call to add the number to the block list. The system can store up to 1,000 blocked numbers.

3.4. Digital Answering System

The integrated digital answering system records incoming messages and screens calls.

  • Recording Capacity: Up to 18 minutes of record time.
  • Playing Messages: Press the PLAY button on the base unit or access the answering system menu on a handset.
  • Call Screening: Listen to incoming messages as they are being recorded to decide whether to answer the call.

3.5. Intercom Function

Communicate between the corded base unit and cordless handsets, or between multiple cordless handsets.

  • Initiating Intercom: Press the INTERCOM button and select the desired handset or base unit.

3.6. Other Features

  • 2-Way Call Recording: Initiate recording of a conversation by pressing the RECORD button during a call.
  • Talking Caller ID: Announces the caller's name or number in English or Spanish.
  • Caller ID Memory: Stores up to 250 recent caller IDs. (Requires subscription to Caller ID service from your phone company).
  • Phonebook: Store up to 3,000 contacts with speed dial options.
  • Expandability: The system is expandable up to 6 handsets (additional handsets sold separately).

4. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the phone surfaces with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.

5. Troubleshooting

Date/Time is incorrectRe-enter the date and time manually through the phone's menu settings. Ensure the time zone setting is correct.
