4. Setup

4.1 Initial Charging

Before first use, or after a long period of inactivity, the device may enter battery protection mode. In this mode, you need to charge the device for an extended period to wake the battery. Connect the included USB-C charging cable to the device and a compatible 27W fast charger (not included). The device will indicate charging status.

To access online features, the Google Play Store, and system updates, connect your device to a Wi-Fi network:

  1. Go to 'Settings' from the Android home screen.
  2. Select 'Network & internet'.
  3. Tap 'Wi-Fi' and enable it.
  4. Select your desired Wi-Fi network from the list and enter the password if prompted.

4.4 Google Play Store Setup

The Retroid Pocket Flip 2 runs Android 13 and fully supports the Google Play Store. You will need a Google account to download apps and games. Follow the on-screen prompts to sign in or create a new Google account when you first open the Play Store application.

Note: No games are preloaded on the Retroid Pocket Flip 2. Users are responsible for acquiring and installing their own games and emulators.

5. Operating the Console

5.1 Basic Controls

Navigate the Android 13 interface using the touchscreen or the physical controls. The analog sticks and D-pad can be mapped to navigate menus, and the A button typically acts as a 'confirm' action.

5.3 Game Loading and Emulation

After installing your preferred emulators and games from the Google Play Store or other sources, launch them from the Android home screen. Most emulators will require you to configure the physical controls within their settings for optimal gameplay.

5.4 External Display Connection

The USB-C port supports DisplayPort 1080p output, allowing you to connect the console to an external monitor or TV for a larger gaming experience. Use a compatible USB-C to DisplayPort cable (not included).

5.5 Audio Output

The device features high-fidelity dual speakers. For private listening, connect 3.5mm stereo headphones to the dedicated audio jack.

5.6 MicroSD Card Usage

Insert a formatted MicroSD card into the TF Card Slot to expand storage for games and media. The device supports cards up to 2TB. Ensure the card is properly inserted and recognized by the system before transferring files.
