2. Setup

2.1 Unboxing Your Laptop

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all items listed in the packing contents are present. Retain the packaging for future transport or service needs.

2.2 Initial Power-On and Windows Setup

  1. Connect Power: Plug the AC adapter into the laptop's power port and then into a wall outlet.
  2. Power On: Open the laptop lid and press the power button, usually located on the keyboard deck.
  3. Follow On-Screen Prompts: The laptop will guide you through the Windows 11 Home in S Mode setup process. This includes selecting your region, keyboard layout, connecting to a Wi-Fi network, and creating a user account.

2.3 Switching Out of S Mode (Optional)

Windows 11 Home in S Mode is designed for security and performance, running only apps from the Microsoft Store. If you need to install apps from outside the Microsoft Store, you can switch out of S Mode. This is a one-way process.

  1. Go to Settings > System > Activation.
  2. In the "Switch to Windows 11 Home" or "Switch to Windows 11 Pro" section, select Go to the Store.
  3. On the "Switch out of S mode" (or similar) page that appears in the Microsoft Store, click the Get button.
  4. Confirm your choice. You will receive a confirmation message on the screen.

Note: Do not click on any "Upgrade your edition of Windows" links if they appear, as this is a different process.

3.1 Keyboard and Touchpad

  • Wi-Fi: Connect to wireless networks via Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac). Access Wi-Fi settings through the Windows taskbar network icon.
  • Bluetooth: Pair Bluetooth devices like headphones or mice through Windows Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
