Operating Instructions
General Pressure Cooking
- Add Ingredients: Place food and the required amount of liquid into the pressure cooker pot. Do not fill more than 2/3 full. For foods that expand, do not fill more than 1/2 full.
- Secure the Lid: Align the lid with the pot, ensuring the handles are properly matched. Rotate the lid clockwise until it locks securely into place. The safety lock mechanism should engage.
- Heat Source: Place the pressure cooker on a suitable stovetop burner (induction, gas, or electric). Use a burner that matches the diameter of the cooker's base.
- Apply Heat: Turn the heat to high. Steam will begin to escape from the vent pipe.
- Pressure Buildup: Once a steady stream of steam is released, the pressure gauge will begin to rise, indicating pressure buildup.
- Maintain Pressure: When the desired pressure is reached (refer to your recipe or canning guide), reduce the heat to maintain a steady pressure. Avoid excessive steam release, which can deplete liquid.
- Cooking Time: Cook for the time specified in your recipe.
- Release Pressure:
- Natural Release: Remove the cooker from heat and allow it to cool naturally. The pressure gauge will slowly drop to zero. This method is ideal for foods that benefit from continued cooking.
- Quick Release (for non-canning): For faster pressure release, carefully place the cooker under cold running water, avoiding the lid's vent pipe, or use the steam release valve if equipped. Only use quick release for non-foaming foods.
- Open Lid: Once the pressure gauge reads zero and the safety lock has disengaged, carefully rotate the lid counter-clockwise and lift it away from you to avoid steam burns.

Image 6: The Orixforce pressure cooker is shown in operation on a gas stovetop. A gentle wisp of steam is visible from the lid, indicating that it is under pressure. This image demonstrates the product in its intended use environment.

Pressure Canning
This pressure cooker can also function as a pressure canner. Always refer to an official, up-to-date canning guide (e.g., USDA Complete Guide to Home Canning) for specific processing times and procedures for different foods.
- Prepare Jars: Wash and sterilize canning jars and lids according to standard canning practices.
- Load Canner: Place a canning rack (not included) at the bottom of the pressure cooker. Place filled, sealed jars onto the rack, ensuring they do not touch each other or the sides of the canner.
- Add Water: Add 2-3 inches of hot water to the canner, or as specified by your canning recipe. Do not overfill.
- Secure Lid: Place and secure the lid as described in the general pressure cooking section.
- Vent Steam: Heat on high until a steady stream of steam escapes from the vent pipe for 10 minutes. This vents air from the canner.
- Build Pressure: After venting, allow pressure to build to the level specified in your canning recipe (e.g., 10 or 15 pounds per square inch, PSI).
- Process Jars: Once the desired pressure is reached, reduce heat to maintain that pressure for the duration specified in your canning recipe.
- Natural Release: After processing, turn off the heat and allow the pressure to drop naturally to zero. Do not use quick release for canning.
- Remove Jars: Once pressure is fully released, open the lid carefully. Using a jar lifter, remove the hot jars and place them on a towel-lined surface to cool for 12-24 hours.
Care and Cleaning
Proper care and cleaning will extend the life of your pressure cooker.
- Cool Down: Always allow the pressure cooker to cool completely before cleaning.
- Disassemble: Remove the lid, gasket, and pressure gauge.
- Wash Pot and Lid: Wash the aluminum pot and lid with warm, soapy water. Use a non-abrasive sponge or cloth. For stubborn food residue, soak the pot in warm water before cleaning.
- Clean Gasket: Wash the rubber gasket with warm, soapy water. Inspect it for cracks or damage. Replace if necessary.
- Clean Pressure Gauge and Vent Pipe: Clean the pressure gauge and vent pipe with a small brush to ensure they are free of food particles. Ensure the vent pipe is clear.
- Rinse and Dry: Rinse all parts thoroughly with clean water and dry immediately to prevent water spots and corrosion.
- Storage: Store the pressure cooker with the lid inverted on the pot to allow air circulation and prevent the gasket from compressing permanently.
- Dishwasher Safety: This pressure cooker is NOT dishwasher safe. Hand washing is required.
