Setup

  1. Connect the Hub to Your Device:

Identify the appropriate port on your host device (laptop, tablet, smartphone, etc.). The LogiLink UA0440 features a unique 2-in-1 cable with both a USB-C connector and an attached USB-A adapter.

    • If your device has a USB-C port, connect the USB-C end of the hub's cable directly into the USB-C port.
    • If your device has a standard USB-A port, attach the USB-A adapter to the USB-C connector, then plug the combined USB-A connector into your device's USB-A port.

  2. Driver Installation: The LogiLink UA0440 is a Plug & Play device. No additional drivers are typically required for most supported operating systems (Windows, macOS, iOS, Linux, Chrome OS, Android). Your system should automatically detect and configure the device.
  3. Verify Connection: Once connected, the LED indicator on the RJ45 port will illuminate when an active Ethernet connection is established.

Operating Instructions

After successful setup, the LogiLink UA0440 hub is ready for operation.

  1. Using the USB-A 3.0 Ports:

Connect your USB-A peripherals (e.g., flash drives, external hard drives, keyboards, mice, printers) to the three available USB-A 3.0 ports on the hub. These ports support data transfer speeds up to 5 Gbps.

  2. Using the Gigabit Ethernet Port:

Connect a standard RJ45 Ethernet cable from your router, modem, or network switch to the RJ45 port on the hub. The LED indicator on the RJ45 port will show the network status (link and activity).

Figure 4: Hub connected to a laptop with an Ethernet cable. This image shows the LogiLink UA0440 hub connected to a laptop's USB-C port, with an Ethernet cable plugged into the RJ45 port on the hub.

Ensure your host device's network settings are configured to use the Ethernet adapter if it doesn't automatically switch from Wi-Fi.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the surface of the hub. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the aluminum finish or internal components.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the hub in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Handling: Handle the device with care. Avoid dropping it or subjecting it to strong impacts. Do not attempt to disassemble the hub, as this will void any warranty.

Troubleshooting

  • No Power/Device Not Recognized:
    • Ensure the hub is securely connected to your host device's USB-C or USB-A port.
    • Try connecting the hub to a different USB port on your host device.
    • Test the hub on another compatible device to rule out an issue with the host device.
  • Ethernet Connection Issues:
    • Check if the Ethernet cable is securely connected to both the hub and your router/modem.
    • Verify that the LED indicator on the RJ45 port is active. If not, try a different Ethernet cable.
    • Ensure your network router/modem is functioning correctly.
    • Check your host device's network settings to ensure the Ethernet adapter is enabled and configured correctly.
  • USB Devices Not Working:
    • Ensure the USB device is properly inserted into the hub's USB-A port.
    • Try connecting the USB device to a different USB-A port on the hub.
    • Connect the USB device directly to your host device (if possible) to confirm it is functional.
    • Some high-power USB devices may require more power than the hub can provide without an external power source (this hub does not have an external power input, so ensure your host device can supply sufficient power).
