Professional Installation Steps
This system requires professional installation to ensure proper function and safety. The following steps highlight critical aspects of the installation process.
Video: "5 Urgent Steps Need to Know Before Installing Della Mini Split" - This video provides a visual guide to the critical installation steps for your Della Mini Split.
Step 1: Installation Location is Critical
Proper placement of both the indoor and outdoor units is crucial for optimal performance and efficiency.
- The indoor unit must be at least 6 inches below the ceiling to allow for proper airflow.
- Verify proper clearances for your specific model in the user manual's "Installation Preview Section."
- Ensure the wall is sturdy enough to support the unit's weight without vibration.
- Keep the air inlet and outlet clear of any obstructions.
- Install the indoor unit 10 feet (3 meters) away from any TVs or radio appliances to prevent interference.

Step 2: Handle Refrigerant Pipes Perfectly
The refrigerant pipes are delicate and must be handled with care to avoid damage that could lead to leaks.
- It is highly recommended to use a bending tool for shaping the pipes.
- If a bending tool is not available, bend the pipes very slowly and carefully to prevent kinking or breaking.
- Damaged pipes are typically bent sharply, feel brittle, and will leak refrigerant.
Step 3: Bundle the Line Set Correctly
After installing the indoor unit, ensure the line set is bundled and angled correctly to facilitate proper drainage and prevent leaks.
- The line set should be angled downward.
- The drain pipe must be pointed straight down to allow any liquid to flow correctly.
Step 4: Vacuum Pump the Refrigerant Circuit
Vacuuming the refrigerant lines is a critical step to remove air and moisture, ensuring maximum efficiency of the system.
- Vacuum for at least 15 minutes for each line set, depending on the strength of your vacuum pump.
- For multi-zone systems, each line set must be vacuumed separately, with varying times depending on length.
- Use a micron gauge to reach 500 microns. If using a manifold gauge, aim for -30 PSI.
- If the line set exceeds 25 feet, additional refrigerant may need to be added by a certified technician.
Step 5: Ensure Safe Electrical Connection
Proper electrical connection is paramount for safety and system functionality.
- Always verify your electrical connection for safety before powering on the unit.
- Check your home's voltage (110V or 220V) to select the correct circuit breaker.
- Use appropriate size and quality UL-listed wire for the mini split system.
- The maximum fuse size for this model is 25A.
