1. Important Safeguards

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

  • Read all instructions before operating the appliance.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or appliance in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
  • The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
  • To disconnect, turn any control to “off,” then remove plug from wall outlet.

3. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the waffle maker and all packaging materials. Ensure all parts are present.
  2. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wipe the non-stick cooking plates with a damp cloth or sponge. Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Dry thoroughly.
  3. Placement: Place the waffle maker on a clean, dry, flat, heat-resistant surface. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the appliance.
  4. Drip Tray: Ensure the removable drip tray is correctly positioned under the waffle maker to catch any overflow.
  5. Pre-seasoning (First Use Only): For optimal non-stick performance, lightly brush the cooking plates with a small amount of vegetable oil. This is generally only required for the first use. Do not use cooking sprays as they can build up and affect the non-stick coating over time.

4. Operating Instructions

  1. Plug In: Plug the waffle maker into a standard electrical outlet. The blue 'Power' indicator light will illuminate.
  2. Select Browning Level: Use the browning control dial on top of the appliance to select your desired waffle crispness, from 1 (light) to 5 (dark). It is recommended to start in the middle (level 3 or 4) and adjust as preferred.
  3. Preheat: Allow the waffle maker to preheat. The red 'Ready' indicator light will illuminate when the appliance has reached the optimal cooking temperature.
  4. Add Batter: Once the 'Ready' light is on, open the waffle maker. Pour the desired amount of waffle batter onto the center of the bottom cooking plate. Do not overfill, as batter may overflow when the unit is closed and rotated.
  5. Close and Rotate: Close the waffle maker. Once closed, the 'Ready' light will turn off. Immediately grasp the handle and rotate the waffle maker 180 degrees clockwise or counter-clockwise to ensure even distribution of batter and uniform cooking.
  6. Cooking Time: Allow the waffle to cook until the 'Ready' indicator light illuminates again. This indicates the waffle is cooked to your selected browning level.
  7. Remove Waffle: Once the 'Ready' light is on, rotate the waffle maker back to its original upright position. Open the waffle maker and carefully remove the cooked waffle using heat-resistant tongs or a non-metallic utensil. Avoid using metal utensils, which can damage the non-stick coating.
  8. Repeat: Close the waffle maker and wait for the 'Ready' light to illuminate again before adding more batter for subsequent waffles.

5. Maintenance

  1. Cool Down: Always unplug the waffle maker from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Cleaning Cooking Plates: Use a soft, damp cloth or sponge to wipe the non-stick cooking plates. For stubborn batter residue, dampen a cloth with warm, soapy water and gently scrub. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, which can damage the non-stick surface.
  3. Cleaning Drip Tray: The removable drip tray can be washed in warm, soapy water or placed on the top rack of a dishwasher. Ensure it is completely dry before reinserting.
  4. Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the waffle maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid.
  5. Storage: Once clean and dry, store the waffle maker in an upright position. The power cord can be wrapped and stored in the designated cord storage area on the bottom of the unit.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Waffles Sticking: Ensure the cooking plates were lightly oiled before the first use. Avoid using cooking sprays. If waffles continue to stick, ensure the plates are thoroughly clean and free of residue.
  • Uneven Browning: Make sure the waffle maker is fully preheated before adding batter (the 'Ready' light should be on). Ensure the unit is rotated 180 degrees immediately after closing to distribute batter evenly. Adjust the browning control dial to a higher setting for darker waffles.
  • Indicator Lights Not Working: Check if the appliance is properly plugged into a working outlet. If the 'Power' light is off, there may be an issue with the power supply or the unit itself. If the 'Ready' light does not illuminate after preheating, allow more time or contact customer support.
  • Waffles Too Soft/Crispy: Adjust the browning control dial to a higher number for crispier waffles or a lower number for softer waffles.
