2. Safety Information
Important Safety Warnings
Always prioritize safety when working with walls. Before drilling, sawing, or routing into any surface, it is crucial to shut off the electrical power, gas, and water supplies to prevent accidents. While the DSF01 helps detect live wires, exercising caution is paramount.

Figure 2: Always turn off electrical, gas, and water supplies before penetrating a surface.
Environmental Factors: Certain ambient conditions can affect detection accuracy. These include, but are not limited to, the proximity of other equipment that produces strong magnetic or electromagnetic fields, high moisture levels, metallic building materials, foil-laminated insulation, or conductive wallpaper or tiles. For critical tasks, consult additional information sources such as construction plans before proceeding.

4. Product Features and Specifications
4.1. 6-in-1 Detection Capabilities
The DSF01 offers comprehensive detection for various materials and objects hidden within walls:
- Ferrous Metals: Detects up to 4.72 inches (120mm) deep.
- Non-Ferrous Metals (e.g., Copper): Detects up to 3.94 inches (100mm) deep.
- Live AC Wires: Detects up to 1.97 inches (50mm) deep.
- Wood Studs (Deep Mode): Detects up to 1.50 inches (38mm) deep.
- Wood Studs (Exact Mode): Detects up to 0.79 inches (20mm) deep.
- Magnetic vs. Non-Magnetic Material Identification.

4.2. Wood Stud Detection Modes
The DSF01 offers two specialized modes for locating wood studs:
- Deep Mode: For detecting studs through thicker materials, up to 1.50 inches (38mm) deep.
- Exact Mode: For precise location of studs closer to the surface, up to 0.79 inches (20mm) deep.

4.3. Metal Detection
The device can distinguish between different types of metal, providing magnetic or non-magnetic indications on the display.

Figure 6: The DSF01 indicates whether detected metal is ferrous (magnetic) or non-ferrous (non-magnetic).
4.4. Smart Visual and Audio Guidance
The DSF01 features a clear LCD display that shows real-time position signals, including a percentage indicator and analog bars that increase as you approach a target. Combined with intuitive color lights (Green for Ready, Yellow for Edge, Red for Target) and audible alerts, you can pinpoint objects with confidence.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
- Slide or open the cover.
- Insert the included 9V battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
5.2. Calibration
Proper calibration is essential for accurate detection.
- Auto-Calibration: The device automatically calibrates when it is lifted off the wall and placed back on a new scanning surface.
- Manual Calibration: For specific situations or to re-calibrate, press the measurement key to initiate manual calibration.

Figure 11: The DSF01 supports both automatic and manual calibration modes.
5.3. Scanning Procedure
- Place the stud finder flat against the wall where you wish to scan.
- Select the appropriate detection mode (e.g., Wood Deep, Wood Exact, Metal, AC Wire).
- Slowly slide the device horizontally across the surface. The slower the movement speed, the better the detection effect.
- Observe the LCD display for visual cues (percentage, analog bars, center/edge indicators) and listen for audible alerts.
- Mark the detected locations as indicated by the device.
5.4. Mute Function
To silence the continuous humming sound during operation, which can sometimes interfere with judgment, long-press the two orange buttons located below the display simultaneously. This allows for more focused object location.
6. Maintenance
Cleaning and Storage
- Keep the device clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
- Store the stud finder in its provided cloth bag to protect it from scratches and impacts.
- If the device will not be used for an extended period, remove the 9V battery to prevent leakage and damage.
7. Troubleshooting
Common Issues and Solutions
- Inaccurate Readings or False Positives:
Ensure the device is properly calibrated before each scan. Move the device slowly and consistently across the surface. Avoid scanning near strong electromagnetic fields, high moisture areas, or walls with metallic building materials, foil-laminated insulation, or conductive wallpaper/tiles, as these can interfere with detection. - Inconsistent AC Wire Detection:
For optimal AC wire detection, ensure there is an active electrical load on the wire. Detection may be less reliable for unpowered or shielded wires. - Device Not Turning On:
Check that the 9V battery is correctly installed with the correct polarity. If the battery is old or depleted, replace it with a new 9V alkaline battery.
